BlueMoon’s House music thread

i met him several times backstage in the 90's.
extremely dislikeable.
let's just say he was one of those with inappropriately wandering hands.
Interesting. Have you met any other DJs backstage who you’d speak of more favourably?

David Holmes, Andrew Weatherall, CJ Mackintosh, Ashley Beedle, Jags Kooner, Justin Robertson, Luke Una, Gilles Peterson…..of those I’ve met who are “famous”, they’re all proper sound people

Impressed with the casual name-dropping on here so far, has to be said!

Yeah, re Oakenfold, as a clubber you enjoy the sets - in my case his 12-3am sets at Cream in his own room - but never really form a view on him as a person. I guess if you don’t know them personally, it’s just the djs with their own radio shows etc you feel you can have a view on.

I should have added it tends to be certain types of DJs that are pretty dicky. At the end of the day, as a DJ you’re playing other people’s music (mostly) yet getting all the praise for it. Annoys me when some have hyper inflated egos

yes,
quite a lot.

by far the the nicest was digweed.
such a humble pleasant guy.
and actually quite shy and nervous before his set.
spent many a night enjoying his company.

Whilst i agree, to an extent, with what you are saying....just like it was "back in the day", all the good stuff doesnt get plastered all over social media. You dont see all the great underground stuff thats going on, as those enjoying it arent bothered with posting everything online.

I even had to go back and delete the word "clubs". A great thing happening over here is that there are "club nights" who dont just play in the same place or venue...theyre taking over old working mens clubs, old social clubs etc and putting on really cool one off events....breathing life and money into old clubs, and then moving on to the next venue.

But if you arent going out to these places, you'll never see them :-)
Dave doesn’t go out mate. Too busy crying about nonsense on here.
