City Announces Global Partnership with Viagogo

But initially it says hospitality? You all know that there have been issues of tourist fans etc in the stadium but then we also know that lots of season ticket holders haven’t always used the ticket exchange service and made money out of their standard ticket?

We all know once Pandora’s box is open so too are the floodgates, it will never be just hospitality tickets that don’t sell, Prestwich blue has posted on X already about it, the club are redefining ordinary tickets with bolt-ons at massively inflated prices, before long whole stands will be this way.
As for fans selling tickets, most I see online are at face value, yes some people do try making a few quid, but they’re normally them that tout in a small way, that’s not a reflection of our core support.
We have 4 ST’s and if somebody can’t make it we have a couple of local lads who can’t get a ST & don’t want to pay £40+ that we give the tickets to for free, one of them even got lucky last year & landed a flexi gold, so we put the ticket on ManCityTickets on X to find another local in a similar situation, I’d like to think that’s what our core support is about

Alway prefered the tennis ball/cuddly toys on the pitch approach.

Delays to live games really fucks the tv companies and sponsors off.

Sadly the club would probably ban every fan. who did it and then sell their seat on viagogo

The club are probably in a no lose situation with this, though they are taking a bit of a gamble. Make loads of money while we're successful and fuck off new season tickets for sale and don't freeze prices. If we have a few seasons like this one or worse and ticket sales fall they can reduce prices and flog a few more season tickets. Win/win in a way. The gamble is they may have pissed off the people who may have snapped up these tickets if they become available. Time will tell.
The biggest issue will be with getting the current kids to come when the day trippers have finished.

Most don’t come now as it’s either too expensive or they can’t get tickets.

As the “legacy” fans die out, there’s no guarantee that today’s youth will fill the void.

Can't argue with any of this....

Just watched this before myself, the contempt he mentions that the club has for the "legacy fan" which is meted out via aggressive steward, ticket price, arrest or opposition fan seems palpable.

For saying this he is unlikely to work for the club again, which provides more context for the lack of pushback as understandably people want to remain employed.

I'm glad that this issue is becoming more viral and it will be interesting to see the boycott he mentions. Its also unfortunate that the solidarity needed to fight back will need to be nurtured due to the uniquely English disease of having the solidarity levels of a pool of alligators, with your mates leg in your mouth ready to spin.

Define hard yards mate? Again, only from personal experience but the hospitality type guys if you want the honesty finance the so called legacy fans who only want to turn up and have a half time pint? I’m 47 years of age by the year so not a youngster and my family originate from longsight before moving to the Isle of Man for business reasons. We’ve spent hundreds of thousands of pounds as a family alone in the last ten years doing flights, hospitality etc and make the most of it spending our time in the atmosphere and surroundings of the etihad etc? Tunnel club, chairman’s lounge etc just to watch games as apparently it’s sold out but seats empty on the day? The there are fans who opt out of cup competitions so someone had to use that seat? I do want to point out though that I do understand fans frustrations but literally throwing the ownership under the bus with walking out etc after the success we’ve had without taking time to try and engage will only open the club up to more ridicule? The rags, dippers etc would be applauded for it but we all know we won’t be and it will be a stick to beat the whole club including the fans with?

I'm 59 years old, I do all the home games, in all the cup schemes, I used to go to all the away games in the 80s / 90s when we were shit, I go to the occasional away game now, I do the Wembley trips coz it's Wembley, I've done quite a few euro aways.
I consider that hard yards, I also consider you flying your family over from the Isle of Man on a regular basis, at great expense doing hard yards.
Like I said originally, I have no issue with tourists/ day trippers, we need them, our uptake of new regular match going local fans hasn't been as great as it should of been considering our success over the last 10 years.
I do have an issue with the club and it's affiliated ticket tout companies.
I don't know if you use these yourself or book directly through the club, why should someone pay over and above market value coz the club chooses to partner with these pirates.
I won't be walking out or not turning up,I've paid hard earned money to be entertained for 90 minures, we have the best owners in the world, who've turned us into the best team in the world, but I do think they've messed up with ticketing policy.

Struck a chord with me this did when I watched it this afternoon, there’s just so much to take away from it, every credit to him for not taking the easy route, a must watch for every City fan imho
100%, mate. Well done, BigSteve, a really interesting and sometimes humorous rant. Loved the passionate plea for the club to listen to the fans and do something about the shit that's going on before we lose more and more of the loyal fans for good. I just cannot believe fans are getting punished for selling their tickets to friends at face value.

Piss off 10s of thousands of fans with season ticket and matchday rises or just get the players out on to the pitch in time and save 2 million pound in fines.

I hate all this FFP justification from the club and some of our own supporters. They haemorrhage money all over the place. Focus on that instead of shafting the working man/woman for every penny they have. Have Haaland on 495k a week instead of 500k. I'm sure he can just about survive on that bless him.

Absolutely spot on. Remember when the TV deals started really rolling in and the thought was that ticket prices could be reduced to minimal levels due to the cash rolling in? Instead it's a full on maximisation of profit and yet there's still those of the "I'm all right Jack" variety who defends the constant above inflation rises in ticket prices.

They simply don't get it. These "non-legacies" (if you post here you are a "legacy" and they want you gone btw) come for an "experience", that "experience" only has lifeblood when fans who built it via an interconnected series of tribalisms over the course of a century are enabled.

Surely there isn't enough tourists in the world to keep it ticking over in the bad times when they've fucked us all off. Surely you want non-legacies to become legacies so they have a lifelong cradle to next cradle relationship with the club through good or ill. You do that by keeping local youth at least interested, for as much as I dislike red scouse they are at the very least, interested.

They are killing off the core for what, 2% of revenue?

You could say the same for Disney or the other long standing franchises who have had their reputations dragged as of recent, basically because it isn't about the art of the thing and the love of it. It's about a message so people don't relate to it authentically.

12 mins 15 seconds this twat starts talking his stratergy based on the walt disney model

the mans a menace to football fans

Fucker is farming us in plain sight, well not even us we are obviously irrelevant and dispensable it's the Chinese and American market he wants.

Appropriating our game and smiling as he does it.

He is a stain on our club.and all the apologists on here can defend him all they want that video sums up what a **** he is

he gives no fucks about city, its history or its fans we could be any club that gave him a chance to espouse this ideology.

The club will only take notice if the fans embarrass those at the top into taking action. That can be done through boycotting games, mass walk outs, or chanting and banners against individuals at the very top of the club.

Maybe our owners and club hierarchy believe it's time to optimise their investment and couldn't genuinely care less what people like you or I think?

Big Steve summed it up when he states that he is here for the fans, the club is nothing without the fans. I have always thought this and no amount of promises of gold plated Mickey Mouse ears will ever change that.
