Everyone in the crowd yesterday was screaming for some energy from the players and this lad delivers. I thought he was on at HT for Gundogan maybe but the switch in defense worked.

The work for both goals was superb. Exactly what other members of the team were doing several years ago.

Time for pep to release the handbrake and back the young lads.

Would be nice for him to get a run in midfield. But it’s not going to happen, certainly not any time soon. Left back seems, fairly obviously, his route into the team. His advantage is that he can, as he‘s shown, play the role a couple of ways - either wider and more attacking, or coming inside into the midfield.
As for turning midfielders into full backs, can‘t say I‘m particularly arsed. It‘s worked fine for us. All just a question of set-up and style.
He's had a few attempts at midfield and looked average. You could tell you were watching a kid play. Both in pre season and in the cup game.

At leftback.though, its like watching a world class Left back. He is dominant. He'd eventually play somewhere else. But i think he should start his senior career as a dominant left back. He has all the tools.

Are you serious? :-) I mean Pep never plays anyone in their natural position unless their name is Haaland....

This suggestion makes too much sense for PG to even consider it!!!
Pep with his innovation fetish „
I am the first one to put a RW as a CB“

Easy to see why they told Chelsea to do one in Jan.

Looks like he's just put his head down and gone to work, fair play to the kid. Should 100% be in the plans for the team going forward.

If you tuned in yesterday, and were blissfully ignorant about the two players' (Phil and Nico) history with the club, you'd be hard pressed to imagine who has been a first team regular in the last 7 or 8 seasons, and who has only made his breakthrough during this season.

I’d give him a go at DM , he’s strong , physically built gets around the pitch easily enough, got an eye for a pass, seems a confident lad.
Nothing to lose we’ve tried a few in there before that’s not really worked out , give him a go .

Yep. Wouldn't mind seeing him next to Nico G at all. The Nicos has a nice ring to it.

Since he's hot property at this moment in time here's a good & fairly recent video interview conducted by top class Blue Nedum located on the City website.

Comes across as respectful but with a Cole Palmer-esque confidence in his ability. Plus, he's come full circle as he does mention initially starting out as left back during his younger days - good watch.
