2025 Grand National (5th April)

This is a bloody minefield of a race lads, so many quality horses in it nowadays, its more like a 30 runner grade 1 chase than the madcap one of years gone by. Stay at the top of the market if you have to have a bet but there's going to be much easier betting races to get stuck into over the 3 days. Wouldn't surprise me if JP had the first 3 home in the national I might just play that for a bit of interest. Really fancy Handstands for the first race on the Thursday though.

No idea what will win but I’ve just watched a full re-run of the 1977 National. Red Rum’s third win.

Jesus, absolute carnage. 33 of the 42 starters fell or refused. Seven of them at the first. Two dead.

Stumpy is the favourite and rightly so but, there's no real value in it at around 7's. Hoping it's price will go out a couple of points once the NR no bet period expires.

Had a cheeky small ew on Broadway Boy (50's paying 6 places) which isn't too bad a horse, I've turned a profit on it in the past. As it's a lottery and I used to live off Broadway in Chaddy & now live off Broadway at Fleetwood-By-The-Sea it's obviously a sign!!!!!!! ;)

Yeah a lot of racing fans bemoan the recent changes to make the race safer and it has changed it from the unique test it used to be but when you actually go and watch the old ones it's pretty indefensible what it used to be like. Personally I think the changes are necessary, a GN like the one you mentioned in the current era in 4K HD could bring about the end of jumps racing in this country, its getting a much higher of calibre of horse entered now aswell. The field this year is rammed with real quality animals.

We don't need to put the lives of the participants both equine and human at a massive risk to still have a good spectacle, those days are in the past. If the die hards want to watch something mental they can watch the Velka Pardubicka from the Czech Republic a few week later which is still fucking crazy as ever

Good job it's been made a safer race for the horses then over the decades

£30 on Three Card Brag @33/1
£15 on Twig @ 66/1 (Boosted to 75/1)

I'm just off to Aintree to poison 32 horses.
Three Card Brag is a good shout with Sean Bowen in the saddle.
Senior Chief - jockey will be in City blue !
I really like the look of Hewick or Stumptown.
Will do my bidding Saturday morning.

Ap McCoy is saying I Am Maximus for the grand national.
He was bang on the money regarding Constitution Hill today he said the fall at Cheltenham was a heavy one and he was all over the Mullins horse to win after watching that race today even if he stayed up Constitution Hill was not going to beat the winner today. Hopefully see him out in Punchestown at the end of the month.

Personally don't want to see Nico on C.H again, awful race from him again today imo, got it all wrong, C.H needs a rest, 2 bad falls, poor horse needs a rest now I think.

There may be some truth in what Nicky was saying about the hurdles in Ireland but I agree it would be mad to send him there after 2 bad falls. I'd put him away for the Summer and go chasing next year if I owned him. I'd fuck Nico off aswell.

Nico had a shocking Cheltenham festival and the Aintree race it got to be in the heads of Henderson and the owners now is he the man for the big races. What's the odds now he wins the National.
As for Constitution Hill running in Ireland go with it last throw of the dice. What happens there could be anything. Hard race you will get a stacked race the others will know if they put pressure on him his jumping is not bang on and we could have a classic race.

What happens there could also be fatal, he's had 2 horrible falls at speed on his neck, he might not be so lucky next time. The horse guns every hurdle and doesn't respect them one bit, they are full on loons if they take it to Punchestown on the back of those 2 falls.
