'THE KIPPAX' - Why are no Etihad stands called this?

I agree and it shows a lack of thinking for me by the club. Why not name the stands and show some imagination ? The East stand should be the Kippax stand and the South stand perhaps something like the Joe Mercer or Pep Guardiola stand ? Ironically they could leave the North Stand as it is because it would be the same as Maine Rd !

And the other stand that adjoined onto it was known as "The Scoreboard End".
Which is where the old style non -digital scoreboard was located.
 
There is no such thing as the Kippax corner at the Etihad, even though some City fans call it that.

Non digital Scoreboard those were the days, A 1:0 B 1:2 C 0:0 ....... which teams are A mate? look in your programme, I ain't bought one, F*ck off then and buy one then.

Sorry Boris but you're wrong, pal. Leeds Road, the old ground of Huddersfield FC had a very similar looking stand to the Kippax of a smaller capacity.

I remember there was talk of a vote to decide what the new ground was going to be called. Not quite the same as the stands I know.

Don’t think it ever happened anyway, did it?

Someone else pointed that out. I was definitely wrong on that but, amongst the big 6 and the bigger clubs of England, a terrace along the side is unique. The Kippax was well known around the country, unlike the other terraces listed. I think because of its size and its unique name as we as the fact Moss Side was a very intimidating place to come as an away fan. As a 6 year old attending my first game, I was awe struck by 'The Kippax'. Spent most of the game staring at it. Its power cannot be underestimated and in my view it can be reborn.

Why is it too late?

Don’t patronise our younger fans. And if you’re right and our younger fans don’t have knowledge of the history of The Kippax then it is even more reason to do it.

I’ve been saying this since we moved.

The compass thing for emergency services is absurd. As long as one stand has a compass point then you can work out rest.

The roads outside are littered with names from the past too, we really should name one of the stands or even two of them recognising Maine Rd and even Hyde Rd.

Yeah agreed, when originally moved across the east stand was the kippax SC holders, including myself, always said make it standing and use the name kippax.

If people quible over it not being on a street called kippax, then just name the circular walkway that goes round the ground kippax lane/way that goes from joe mercer way to howard bernstien way

I also think the club should build a proper supporters social club and beer garden big enough to attract fans pre match with decent local prices for ales and a mackie mayor type food hall, I would call it the colliery arms in rememberance of Bradford pit

but thats jist me
