I actually thought he was quite good in defence, for once. Seems to be learning it. Just once, he intensely annoyed me — Rúben clearly pointed out to the right and told him to go and close down the United player who was obviously going to get the ball. He didn't go, hung around apparently thinking that Rúben might need some help (Rúben needs no help), the United winger (Dogu, I think) duly got the ball, had acres of space and got a very dangerous cross over that could have been a goal. I do sometimes wonder if he's a bit slow, mentally.

Yeah I agree thought he was actually fine defensively today. No brain farts. He's clearly not an instinctive defensive player but didn't think he gave much up on his side today.

He may be correct about him playing in the middle, but he's also given him ZERO opportunity to prove that despite the midfield being abysmal and lacking in the one thing he would be able to provide(pace) all season.

Regardless, this statement about a 60M purchase price is embarrassing on multiple fronts.

I don't wanna hear anything negative about Nunes anymore.

Guy never complains to anyone but the ref.

But I have a feeling when Nunes does eventually leave and is asked about what his time at City was like.. that's the day we'll know how much shit he actually dealt with.

"He's not clever enough to play in midfield", boy our midfield this season has been Einstein levels hey ? and even if he's not composed enough, why not play him as a midfield runner who can bring some pace and physicality ? he doesn't have to play deep where you need composure, you can play some of the other guys who apparently have so much composure deeper and play him in a more attacking role, something different you know, but ah well.

If Pep said at the start of the season that today's back 4 was going to be preferred, I think he'd have had a standing ovation.

- The older Walker moved on and replaced with someone with pace and height.
- Dias as the old head.
- Gvardiol in his natural position.
- O'Rielly as new blood.

Especially given how poor Akanji's form was and how Stones is a wreck unfortunately.

It was exactly this type of progressive proactive thinking that we expected from Pep but got nothing but the same tired stuff.
