President Trump

Trump is a very nasty symptom not the cause. Although the Dems have done their fair share of shenanigans the GOP are rotten to the core. Nixon scuppered Vietnam peace talks for political gain at the end of the 68 POTUS campaign, Reagan did the same by getting Iran to delay the release of American hostages back in 1980. The GOP care about money and power and fuck the plebs. They could fuck Agent Orange but they prefer power and chaos.

Wish someone would find a very blunt and rusty knife and chop off his dick, which he currently swinging round saying look at me. They may need a magnifying glass to find it first. What a **** of the highest order. The damage he has and is currently doing to the rest of the world is leaving me speechless.

I'm pushing 40 - the older I get, I'm not sure the public should be allowed to vote on what colour pens the government get to use.

I say this as someone that was routinely derided for NOT voting as I didn't have a party / candidate that I wanted to vote for (not the least-worst option).

We are nowhere near well enough informed to make decisions and we are not voting for the same things (region / family / future / planet / world).

I noticed the other day my spelling and maths (which was shite to begin with) has probably only gotten worse over the last 20+ years as I regularly use Excel and Outlook etc with work. I know that I don't have to spell everything correctly as it will be critiqued and highlighted by AI allowing me to amend.

I think we live in a bubble where we still assume that people in public office are doing so because they genuinely want to make a difference, make things better (regardless of their political views). This is outdated bollocks as a general starting point which needs updating and I'm not saying that there aren't genuine cases - I think the likes of Raynor and Jess Philips et al DO genuinely believe they can make a positive difference.

For instance, let's say someone as unlikeable as Reece-Mogg starte running a more central policy as he manoeuvred to take a run at PM in 4-8 years time.

Evening his policies were really appealing across the board to rich and poor alike, you would have to be hugely sceptical of the why and the how, what is motivations are and whether it is likely to ever actually be implemented. We cannot trust any of the the fuckers and we are still too passive when we have been fucked over or lied to.

I'd love to be able to mock America for being stupid but we are just as fucking dense in this country (see continuously voting Tory for 14 straight years and leaving the EU).

Fuck this off - on to the derby........ :-)
I'd totally understand this argument if the things we voted for demanded that we use intelligence but they don't, you can even flip a coin in the voting booth and that's fine. It's not intelligent to vote Tory or Labour, it's a choice based upon point of view, very few switch sides based upon what's best. Everybody on here who voted Labour will continue to vote Labour even if Mao became the Labour leader.

Personally I think an intelligent person would be far more in favour of a technocratic system but then the socialists and ultra capitalists couldn't get their utopias. You see it on this forum where the Tories were bashed for years and now we have a Labour government doing the exact same thing as they did but those same people are now silent. It really has nothing to do with intelligence.

I think the only way to get away from comic book characters like Trump is to start examining what politics actually offers us other than a way to divide and argue with each other. Trump did after all win on the basis of working out how best to divide people. We know that politics offers us next to nothing so I can forgive people for voting for pitiful characters out of desperation. I'm not going to be lazy and call them stupid, I'm going to say that they had no real other choice so they took the bait.

Don't be fucking stupid of course they had a choice. They could have chosen not to vote for a convicted felon, rapist, misogynist, racist liar with a track record of bankrupting businesses, including fucking casinos....do you understand how fucking hard it is to bankrupt a casino??? People are literally giving you money

You have totally missed the point and are just jumping on personality, I'm not interested, I know what Trump is but the fact is people voted for him anyway. If Trump had one policy that you liked and the Democrats had none then why wouldn't you vote for him? That was the case for at least some of 75m Americans.

The biggest voting demographic is never the core voter because that's always a given minority. The most important demographic is the 50/50 voter, especially in the swing states.

Trump attracted more of these voters than Harris did. Why? Are you even going to bother to ask or would you rather just call them all stupid? The irony is that many of those voters will have voted Biden last time around... And that's why a swing state is called a swing state.

They can have their reasons and still be stupid. "Things are too expensive" is a stupid reason because it relies on a complex interplay of factors outside the president's control.

All I see is that for some reason a significant number decided Trump was the better option. I seriously doubt that this significant number decided that voting for a so called rapist and misogynist was their key reason to vote for him...

For many on here it's like the last 15 years didn't happen, we've had recessions, COVID... People do not trust the so called experts and apparent adults in the room anymore. Trump, Farage.. These are people who are just taking advantage of chaos in our economic and political system, systems that do not work anymore for the average joe.
