Old Maine Road photos thread

I have played at Platt Lane a couple of times since we moved to the Etihad but I don't think I have ever been back past since we moved. Seems a really sad thing to say but I just cant bring myself to look at it now as it is. I still envisage the chippy on the corner and the club shop etc.
I know exactly what you mean

I umpired a cricket match at Whalley Range last Summer and set off early with the intention of having a look around Maine Road en route

However as soon as I got to Wilbraham Road I started feeling nervous and changed my mind
I just didn't want my memories to be destroyed

Yeah, it's a proper bitter sweet photo for me, that one
The new Kippax was pretty shit, but the Platt Lane End redo was probably the joint biggest crime ever committed to an English football ground. The other being the Bobbers Stand executive boxes at Kenilworth Road, which the new Platt Lane was basically a bigger version of.

Agree about the Platt Lane although still holds some fond memories for me as that's where we ended up at Maine Road before moving to the Etihad. Will ask my Luton mate about their Bobbins Stand :)

just came across these by accident.

apologies if already posted.

How do you really define if a club is big or small?
Attendance, size of the stadium, trophies won or history..
