Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

And the sad thing is, they do not give a single fuck what we think or feel about it.

They’re not arsed if a family from Wythenshawe or Harpurhey can’t afford to go and there are empty seats, they’re just happy they’ve been able to shift fewer tickets for more money to people from anywhere whether they’re City fans or not.

Let’s say we have 10,000 seats available to sell for the game as individual match tickets (approximates: 52k stadium, 35k STs, 3k away fans, 4k hospitality+corporate, leaving 10k). If they sell 5,000 of them at £120 (and many go for double that) through their ticket tout partners (and their Sister sites, because they all have Sister sites n’all!) and 2,000 at £71 through the official City ticket website, they don’t care that there are 3,000 empty seats and they don’t care that they could have sold all 10,000 at £35 for adults and £15 for children to local Blues who’d love to be there for the last Saturday home game of the season which would create a better atmosphere and it be a better occasion for the players on the pitch and the fans in the stands who’d likely be regular returners to the stadium because they enjoyed the game and the atmosphere… because they’d make more money the other way.

They’d rather have 3,000 empty seats, a ground swaming with nobodies, some who’d leave the ground if we got beat without a care in the world, some not even City fans, creating a shitter atmosphere and a shitter occasion for the team and the fans… but a bit more money.

Money money money!

Yup, Soriano announced his intentions in the video that was posted 11 years ago, he told everybody what he was up to.

But the people who own City don't know that because they dindunuffin!!

Writing has been on the wall for years. I’m a FOC legacy fan. You know, the ones that were begged to buy early bird season tickets in March not knowing if you were going to be relegated or not. I tried to help the old lady behind me (to no avail) who couldn’t switch from a dumb phone to a smart phone when they changed the admission system. As an example I arrive in the stadium about 15 minutes before kick off and go straight to my seat. I don’t film anything or go on any social media sites to express my excitement. At half time I stay in my seat and chat those around me. Full time I make my way back to the bus.

I score zero on their criteria on their list of a desirable fan.

We had to turn into what we despise. I kind of understand it. I don’t like it. I love City. I always will. It just might be from afar soon. I feel like I’ve had my Dear John letter lol.

Well done CM. The wording on "general admission" season tickets looks like Flexi-Gold charge could change

Yep. I eventually found some at £61 / £33... but still too much for him.... so that's an 8 year old, who thought he was going watching city, pissed off and potentially losing interest

This is welcome news of course. Good for us season ticket holders but I don't think a freeze in match day pricing is sufficient, given some of the match day prices this season have been extortionate - for kids as well as adults - which has put loads off buying tickets and we also have another 8000 seats to fill from the middle of next season. Also, we need some meat on the bones regarding Flexi-Gold and the upfront cost plus whether there has been a change of heart regarding issuing new season tickets

Great news. Well done to all those that have been pushing for it behind the scenes.

The freeze itself is good, but the change in stance is the better news. perhaps a realisation that they've pushed the core fans too far and this is a first step towards getting them back on board. Or it could just be a one-off and they'll be back to screwing us as hard as possible in 12 months. Either way, good news.

Get the thread title amended!

Interesting wording though. Have they ever been referred to as 'general admission season tickets' before?
My guess is it's probably to exclude the the most expensive seats. The hospitality/corporate seats will go up.

The people that buy those have enough money to not give a single fuck if their £40k annual ticket costs are now £44k(the numbers are an example plucked from thin air)
