TV Series

Watching Mickey Rourke's entrance into the celeb big brother studios/house was compulsive tv for 5mins or so. I can't work out if he was putting it on, whether he was shitting himself with nerves, or a private doc had fired him up with some special juice to get him moving. Staggering about like he was in the middle of a bender. Not sure that's going to raise his profile.
Was a very good actor many moons ago….

It really adds nothing to the show.

Detracts from it, actually.
That's what I always feel. Unless a character has to be a nationality, let the character be the nationality of the actor. Or just hire actors who are from certain nations and call it globalisation.

Imagine the poor Eastern European audiences listeing to ze craz aksint a also be villin. OR the deddeddedede duumdum dee Chinese.

1923 brilliant end to a very good series.
One small gripe but i will not spoil for others.
The last episode is basically a movie at just under 2 hours.
I actually bawled my eyes out at the end … haven’t done that since watching Schindlers List over 30 years ago!!!

Taylor Sheridan really is a wonderful writer/creator … Landman, Yellowstone, 1883 and 1923 all superb viewing.

Roll on 1944 sometime next year, hopefully led by Brandon Sklenar as an older Spencer Dutton.

I, genuinely, chuckled at that reply at the end!

I imagine this is divisive, but anyone else fed up of streaming services which we pay for putting tv shows out weekly?

I imagine some people enjoy it. I don't Give us the option maybe?

I like the weekly releases. Slows you down to appreciate it and build anticipation for the next episode. They make it all available after it's all out so we get the best of both right now. Want it binge it just wait a couple of months

Watching a multi season series about the life of Jesus on Amazon Prime

'The Chosen" (2017)
Surprised that I'd not heard of it before

worst irish accent since err... Helen Mirren in 1923...last week.
Harsh I think. I wouldnt mind betting that is how someone from rural Ireland brought up in the mid and late 1800s would sound. The modern Irish accent like many in all cities has changed. Dublin always sounded different. No criticisms of her accent in 1923 from me I think shes great

I think so too …. for the ages Harrison Ford and Helen are, I’ve no idea where they get the energy to still perform to the levels that they do?

Nor me, I thought her accent in 1923 was good enough. However, Jerome Flynn's Scottish was bloody awful.

Watching series 7 of black mirror and it's alright.

not sure why the common people is getting over praised, found it quite mid level and rehashed themes from series 1 & 2 (before it went more global and hollywood), though well acted and back to an older more technophobic depresing black mirror style

I just finished Series 2 of Severance. After being a bit uncertain to start with, it definitely grew on me and I’ll be eagerly checking out when Series 3 is ready.

As much as I enjoyed it, I’m not quite in the ‘best series of all time’ camp though. I still think they tried a bit too hard to be clever at times. And there were a couple of episodes, that while maybe necessary to the plot, weren’t particularly entertaining. Which is the whole point of television series at the end of the day, right? And I couldn’t watch the whispering guy with the white hair without thinking of the David Mitchell spoof baddie.

I’ll finish on a positive note though. Definitely the best new series I’ve watched for a good while. And I think they got the balance just right in closing off a few major story lines, whilst still leaving plenty of uncertainties as to what series 3 might bring.
I watched the first series when it came out and thought it was brilliant. Original and compelling. I’m half way through the second series and to be honest it’s losing me. Some daft episodes that were pretty boring. Outdoor one in particular was crap. I’m hoping it picks up.
