The Labour Government

Good news, that we are keeping the Scunthorpe blast furnaces. Shame we didn't keep the Port Talbot ones. Now to put a tarriff on imported steel, and also stipulate in law that all UK defence and infrastructure projects should use UK produced steel.

Then get that coal mine in Whitehaven open which will produce our own high quality coking coal and stop the silly political shenanigans.

Did you not?

Hard work sometimes on here.

No I didn't

We shall presume THEY were just busy when these things popped up on here so you didn't comment

You didn't comment on THEIR silence, that was the really really complicated point I was making about the hypocrisy(obviously complicated to some;-))

It is hard work indeed:-)

Utterly pointless to have a thread discussing the current government and its policies.

Just utterly pointless.

Right everyone, back to the Tory and Trump threads we go!
Make sure you keep mentioning the pointless thread by posting on the pointless thread without also mentioning the large historical part you played in such thread:-)

Or as you implied just say listen guys I'm a Labour guy so can we ignore the awkward and........

Oh look a gb news twitter post and Farage was on the telebox again.

If you say so.

Absolutely and exactly what a Labour government should do.

Let’s all hope today will see Steel production in the UK safeguarded because we are going to need it I feel.
Presumably this decision is related to the current global situation and the fact we no longer have a major ally we can rely on. Can’t see this decision would have been made in normal circumstances.

Don't forget the oil fields with the stipulation it's UK oil not for open market.

Agree but it should have been made by a Labour government even in untroubled waters imo and fair play to them, it looks like it’s getting done.

I see no progressive debate has been made again so far today, but lots of pointing out that there should be a thread where people can moan about stuff going on with no purpose other than to get a pat on the back from likeminded people.

Groundhog day 15948 on here.

I like the way the government are bringing MPs in over the weekend to vote on it, in order to try to make themselves look decisive and timely, where in reality they’ve had months to deal with it.

Both parties have stated in the past that we needed to retain the capability of making our own steel as it was of critical national interest. So this shouldn't be a surprise, it's just a good decision.
