Crystal Palace (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Thought the attacking players were brilliant today. Always first to the rebounds and were creating chances with ease. It was very fluid. Can't say the same about the defence. Rico did alright to be fair but Dias is very overrated.
Dias "overrated" ffs

It was City of old and its always against Palace, Going for the title or fighting a top 4 place, palace scared us to death before we wake up from the nightmare,
Sure was pal one mental game! & like you say it’s always against palace, only thing that game lacked was an andros Townsend stunner again!!

Its a joke we still employ our set piece coach as we are awful at both ends from corners.
Think its as much an overhaul of our coaching staff thats needed as much as the squad overhaul. We are just way to easy to score against regardless of who we pick, seems nearly every shot against us goes in.
I said this in the match day thread, the most important signing of the summer will be a defensive coach, whoever is doing that job at the minute is shite, clearly pep will have the overall say on how we set up but with the size of our backroom staff there will be specific coaches and analysts going through the tactics with the players.
we are a fucking shambles at the back and really don't have to be, lots of folk having a pop at Dias over the corner where they scored, if you watch it again it was gundo who lost his man, giving that player a huge run up against a standing Dias, this is basic shit

What a strange game.in the first 20 minutes we actually played ok but weren’t competing in the midfield which was leaving our defence exposed. Then, after the disallowed goal we started to win everything in the middle and absolutely battered them.

Great performances from KDB and Gundo and an honourable mention to Kovacic who was excellent (I read some of the comments on the match thread at half time and was wondering what game the were watching.

Take out the 1st 20 minutes we were excellent today. The difference for me was we pressed as a team out of possession.
KDB was like a mad man today.
Basically took the game by the scruff of the neck and said we aren't losing this.
Nico Reilly excellent and growing into a real talent.
Nico gonzales. Best game in a city shirt aswell today.
Marmoush super.
Gvardiol . My player of the season.
Mentions to Rico and Mcatee also who many have been critical of, including myself.
See you at Goodison.

Yeah, I think for a full season then it is a no, But for games like today, he could be important to have around.

Somebody will pay crazy money for him in wages and signing fees and City will not match it at his age, KDB has earned the right to look after himself and his family and if somebody is paying crazy money good luck to KDB
Good luck to him, would be nice if he came back in some capacity when he hangs up his boots.

Is that it?

Defensively awful start, though we were good in attack, despite being 2-0 down. We should have had a penalty when Marmoush was pulled back and shortly after Kev hit the post. Thankfully their 3rd was ruled out as we’d never have recovered from that. However from that moment, we got a bit of momentum, desire and belief. Great free kick from the King to get us back in the game, then a great cross from O’Reilly (who up till then had a torrid time), great header back in by Kev, a fortunate mis kick by Gundo fell to Marmoush to equalise. McAtee could and should have done better with two chances and Kev should have put us 3-2 on the stroke of HT, but blasted over.

A great start to the 2nd half with a good goal from Kovacic, assisted by Kev. Kev was unlucky not to have another assist when he broke clear and played a great ball to Marmoush, resulting in a great double save from Henderson. A record breaking assist from Ederson for McAtee to round the keeper for the fourth, before Nico O’Reilly grabbed the fifth. All in all, a comfortable victory in the end, inspired by King Kev who was head and shoulders above everybody on the pitch; but thank Christ that Eze was too eager and was unnecessarily offside for that disallowed third.

Didn’t agree with the team selection before the game. But after the let off with the third Palace goal we were pretty good. The effort and intensity was there. Marmoush is so lively and always looking to get in behind.

Rico Lewis has to do better for the first goal. Never has any awareness what’s around him. He is unlucky Eze was offside for the third.

And i’m really liking the look of Nico o’Reilly. Targetted by Palace in the first half. He isn’t a LB. But strong, quick and really good fast feet. Can’t wait to see him play as an 8.
