Crystal Palace (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

My Sky planner's playing up - instead of today's match it must have recorded a KDB highlights reel from years ago... :-)

Whoosh! Where did that come from?

Just brilliant to see all the players enjoying themselves out there again.

On TNT sports they must have harped on about the disallowed Palace goal 15 times - it wasn't even controversial, it was OFFSIDE!

On the other hand, I didn't hear a single reference to the fact that Richards, who scored their second, possibly shouldn't have even been on the pitch.

Even when discussing his foul, there was no reference to him being the last man. Blatant favouritism. They spent longer talking about Lewis' potential handball, which at 5-2 with 2 minutes left would have made sod all difference.

What a fantastic turnaround.

A couple of other unexpected results, too. A great day
I've heard no mention that the corner that resulted in their 2nd came from a free kick that was taken about 20 yards further forward than it should've been. Kova was penalised for a foul inside their D and the keeper took it from about the middle of their half.

Winds me the fuck up when the ref let's this go.

I thought we were unlucky to go two or three down, and started well. But it was looking bad until King Kev rolled back the years.

I still don't think we are as far off it as some on here have said this season. A couple more big signings, Rodri back, Foden back to his best and we are challengers again.

Was more than enough on the pitch today for top five.

Good stuff.

Getting Rodri back to full fitness is like getting to play another midfielder. We immediately see an end to this random inconsistent nonsense we've been witnessing and control games again. We don't have anyone else even playing the same sport as him right now. Just have to hope his recovery has been managed properly and we get him back without a season of complications and niggles.

Well that was a turn up, very enjoyable

It was like the old days when we were good :-)

When that 3rd of theirs hit the net I, and everyone else no doubt was fuming, thankfully VAR did it's job.

KDB thought "fuck this, do you know who I am" and got to work. Well assisted by Gundog and Kova too.

Even though we scored 5 we still missed some chances, could've been 10.

Pat on the back for you all being moaning bastards rather than waiting to make judgement on the actual performance.

I'm so glad the likes of Macca and O'Reilly bagged. A shit first 30 mins but thankfully a match lasts for 90.
If we want to moan if the team are playing shit we will. It was a great comeback and in the end we got a great result. However it's a match day thread and you comment as you see the game going. If I want to comment what I see on the pitch I will do. If you want to pretend your happy for likes you do that.

We were poor the first 20 minutes.
After that a DeBruyne Masterclass.
I genuinely didn't see that comeback coming.
Delighted to see McAtee scoring and his general play was good.
We weren’t poor but we were wide open behind Nico and they exploited it well. Now it’s down to Nico but they’ve created team as a whole.
Could have easily have been 2 up as well as 2 down.

Just got back, thoroughly enjoyed that after the first twenty minutes. Where did this city team come from? The fight and passion was back, fighting for every ball. KDB was superb, along with others. Marmoush was like a terrier ( a bit Tevez like). Mcatee when asked said the fighting talk came from Kev, Dias, Gundo and Kova. Biggest compliment you can pay Nico G is he just knits everything together and goes under the radar. Thought the atmosphere was good, and I didn’t hear any booing. Frustration possibly, but not booing where I was. Like others I thought the lineup was odd, but Pep pulled it out of the bag and deserves full credit. I’m pleased for him as much as anyone as it’s been a tough old season. I would love Nico and Mcatee to become a permanent part of the squad, next season although I think Nico might be claiming a regular first team spot, sooner rather than later. Hope Eddie is okay and back asap. For me it was the return of the fight, press and passion that pleased me today. Tough game next week, but all to okay for now. Plus nice being back in the light at a decent time.

It’s by design absolutely certain of it,happens to often similar fouls and so forth not reffed correctly for both teams..

KDB turned that game for us....

IN the first 20 mins we (and KDB were awful - as bad as we have seen in the whole time Pep has been here)...then something clicked....KDB was the catalyst and leader for this. Without the ball KDB was awful in the first 20 mins...then he changed and started fighting....
When they had the third goal disallowed Pep was speaking to some of the players..i also think he tweeked something tactically at that point...Marmoush I think started slightly wider (not touch line hugging) which helped cover the wide position a little and McAtee started roaming a little more central as did KDB - and we seemed to get control...Nico Oreilly started to step more into the middle of the park as well and the back line were more aggressive and on the front foot

There is a long way to go but that second half was more like our old selves but with a real fragility to it at times.

On an individual basis KDB was the standout, Nico Oreilly after the first 20 was very good. Nico G did very well as wel. McAtee was wasteful at times but good in parts. Marmoush once he got the idea of workign harder was decent but he needs to be more consistent in his all around performance...he is good in front of goal but he has to work harder in other elements of the game especially defensively and there were signs of this in the second half
KDB without the ball is an issue...magician with it...but without it and especially in the first 20 mins he was awful..he just stepped running on a number of occasions when we didnt have the ball...then something clicked and the rest was vintage KDB

Spot on!

We created 12 big chances today. I’m gonna say without checking that’s the most this season in one game. So bizarre when you consider just how bad that opening 30 was.
To be fair, McAtee's pass back and Marmoush's 1v1 were either side of their first goal. We were only bad in terms of just how easy it was to attack us quickly - we were decent on the ball first half and then just excellent
