Boyhood Liverpool fan, Van Dijk’s best pal - I can see them offering him the reduced role he apparently wanted here.

I’d lean towards keeping him if we can bring in midfield legs to compensate for his reduced mobility, but it seems that ship has sailed.

That's obviously not going to happen. Liverpool have done everything in their power to avoid paying out to Salah, why would they offer KDB at 34 a crazy deal when he'd likely demand a multi year deal?

He rolled back the years today, no doubt. But he's been injured for most of the last 2 seasons and this year his performances have fallen off a cliff. It's probably the right time for the club to move on.

Clearly he's pissed off about the situation and would rather have stayed. If he really was willing to accept reduced wages and not play every week (big if), I get why.

Feels like there's something we don't know, whether it's about Kev or the club's plans, because it feels strange for him to be making comments like he did today. Feels like there's bad blood there, which is so rare when a legend leaves us. Even Sergio seemed to understand it.

Another baffling decision to let this guy walk in a long line of recent odd decisions from the club.

Kdb has always needed a few games to get back into the groove following injuries. He is still probably our best player when on form
He's been pretty shite all season and he turns 34 this summer. We need to move on from yesterday's greats.

Living in the past. He is shot to pieces. The long line of recent decisions by the club that you mention is exactly why we are struggling to come 5th in the PL this season. KDB is a legend but his time has come.

Let’s see. I feel kdb still has something to offer. He certainly is a level above Morgan gibbs white!!!

What a player, won’t see a player with Kevs ability again for City. The most unique player we’ve ever had and once in a generation type. He’s missed almost three seasons for City as well, could have surpassed Giggs assist record if he didn’t have a couple major injuries.

It's not baffling he has been poor for 18 months and if he stayed we know pep the way he picks a team he be starting more games than he should! It's right to move him on!

So after he finally plays free of pain , Pep decided that he is not needed next season !

Txiki will leave now, Pep will follow him shortly and yet they decided that the current best player of the team should leave !

Wonderful game from him today, does make me wonder how we could have used him as a false 9 more. Still the right decision to let him go though - his physical gifts aren't what they were and it's time to build a new team

At the risk of looking a ****. Has Kev decided not to renew or have we decided not to renew.
Been away for over a week so I'm out of the loop.

I've said on here a few times he's finished at the top level.he. Proved me wrong today.
That was vintage de bruyne..I still think it's the right decision to not renew his contract all good things come to an end .
As I've said before the only player I've seen better than him is el mago..but it is close.
Thanks kev. I am and all city are very lucky to have watched a truly brilliant player play for our club for ten years..ctid

If he’s hell bent on playing in England then we should be doing a u-turn and giving him another year.

Think it would similar to what United did with Ronaldo where it’s a weird look if he goes somewhere else in the league. I wouldn’t put it past Arsenal or Liverpool to make him an offer out of spite. Hope the club are keeping tabs on this.

No doubting his quality, he’s still one of the few players willing to ping a dangerous ball forward. Only concern is the pace. But like Modric, surround him with younger players and it could work.

The questions that have to be asked are concerning his physical ability? I don't think anyone doubts he still has the brains to put in the performance he gave yesterday. It's more, does he have the legs to do it on more than just the occasional game? If he hasn't, are the club prepared to keep him on as more of a squad player? And is he prepared to stay on in such a role, possibly (?) on a reduced salary? If the answer to both is yes, it's a no brainer. Keep him.
Hey Jim. Could you point me in the direction of his “leaving thread” please?
I missed it at the time. Cheers.

A hint of an offer from another English team?

Mention of a project?

Wouldn't surprise me if it's Newcastle, playing as a 10 behind Isak, but in front of Tonali and Bruno G, would be top class. Their wide players work their bollocks off as well.

If he went to another team in England I wouldnt like it..but I would see it how footballers see it .to them it's a job..very few players give a toss about the team they are playing for.. especially now a days.
If a top premier league team did sign kev I think they would be taking a high risk.
Yes he's still capable of today's performance levels..and maybe he hasn't done that this season cos like he said he's been in pain through injury.
I love the man he's one of the best I've seen in a city shirt and also one of the best the premier league has seen .but I think he's getting to old .had to many injuries and he's lost that yard of pacehes been a passenger most of the season..and some games painful to watch such a great player struggle in games.
Today was different.
Today was like the real Kevin de bruyne.
He's had his time maybe it's time to go to that joke league in America.
My one worry is him going to the dippers and they play the team around him.he sits in the number 10 role..doesn't need to run..no tracking any man ..just pick the ball up and spray passes .
If a team did that and built the whole game around him he could be unbelievable.
A bit like when pirlo was getting on a bit..I think it was at juve he sat in front of the back 4 and dictated the game..kev could do that and be amazing for another 5 years..but not in a pep side..well not in a pep side that presses..our side now doesn't press but doesn't sit deep either..that's another story..what ever you do kev .thank you .some of the passes you played that I witnessed with my own eyes in the ground really were unbelievable.
If it wasn't for David silva you would be the best player I have seen in a city shirt.
I never thought a player could be better than kinky and I've seen 2.
Thanks kev
