US Tariff War

Just going back to US vehicles for a moment, I once had a Nissan Armada as a hire car (primarily designed for the N.American market). I was getting as low as 9mpg (10.8 UK), and it averaged around 16mpg (19.2 UK). It was like driving a sofa, and not in a good way. The accelerator pedal was essentially a go-louder pedal. It was a pile of junk.

In an unsurprising potential result of Trump’s imbecilic trade rules, the US is royally messed up on their rare earth access, and has no chance of replacing the imports from china in the next 10+ years, so effectively muzzling their ability to produce high tech (especially defense big tickets - f35, subs)
But hey, MAGA! USA! Trump!

Nobody will be opening new mines in Greenland on that timescale.

As always, trying to put a strategic, or even rational veneer on Trump is impossible. It's just impulsive low cunning, ignorance and narcissism.
