UK supreme court ruling on legal definition of a woman

What age do you expect the highest, and by extension the best, level of the judiciary to be?

Yeah let’s have some 25 year old judges on the Supreme Court, fresh out of university.

You’re thinking is a bit basic here.

Totally agree that in general, positions like this will be filled by older people but this naturally brings with it a different way of thinking and different perspectives.

For example, if the Supreme Court was made up entirely of trans people I think it’s safe to say the decision would have been different even if they were equally as qualified and experienced.

I have a transgender friend who came to a party of ours last week. She was born male, but now passes as a woman to the extent that a friend next day who didn't know her asked me who the tall good looking auburn haired lady was.

I'm no gender campaigner, I just think it's very sad to see people celebrating that someone like her should apparently be forced to use a toilet like the one you describe.

It seems like wanton cruelty.

[None of this aimed at you, your post just made me think of my friend]

I think one of the problems with the debate is that the vast majority of people have had no experience with trans people at all, so they kind of go off stories they’ve read and have a caricature in their mind of some bloke with hairy legs who’s thrown a wig on just because he fancies being ‘Pauline’ for the night.

I’ve worked closely with a trans woman who has had full gender reassignment surgery etc and comes across completely as a woman, to the point where if they had to use a man’s toilet, it would be strange for everyone.

If someone says woman everyone knows and/or accepts what they are talking about except gender cult members. I don't accept your attempts and others to steal the word. Pick another one and stop boring the world with some quite ridiculous word play ideology.

Rowling has been the most prominent in applying common sense and defending women's rights. I simply believe you couldn't resist a dig and tis as simple as that.

It's only a dig if you think there's a problem with a woman having a slightly square jawline. Which I don't.

More kindness and understanding wouldn't go amiss, both for trans women and cis women who fear abuses of trans rights by predators.

I get this has been a dirty fight, with shit flying in all directions and I totally agree with the Supreme Court’s ruling - but the displays of triumphalism are not a good look. Much better to show a bit of grace and compassion in victory.

This is the confusing part for me.

I’ve seen people rubbing it on the faces of trans people including JK Rowling.

Not the time to be provocative or make an impacted minority feel even more like crap.

Hatshepsut. Just thought I would point it out as you are clever than me.

I'm glad you brought that up, there were mitigating circumstances that night, two teenagers crashed their car through the side wall of my house in the early hours of the morning, I had coppers and the kids family round, much wailing and gnashing going on, not by me I might add, so once it all quietened down my wife and I had a swift drink and then another and....Well you can guess the rest.

American Yin meet American Yang....

We want nothing to do with either of you.
I’m not sure who Yin is in your little quip, but if it is me then you’re completely wrong and flinging feces in all directions.

But, to each their own…and I do mean your own…as there is no “we” that I know of for whom you are the Spokesperson.

No problem. Only joking. Was funny, though.

Your mis-spelling, I mean. Not the backstory, obviously.

Interestingly enough, something similar happened to me one night but being in Thailand it involved someone throwing a grenade into the compound where I was renting a house. Part of an issue between the thrower and the owner apparently. So you have my sympathy :)
