Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Just got back from it.

Drab game so good win as it looked a 0-0 all the way until Doku came on and changed the momentum. Very good game by him that.

Thought we started well first 15 and ended well - last 15.

The other 60 mins probably best forgetting about. Ortega and defence did well.
You own a helicopter ?

Wasn't the greatest game, but we stuck at it, and 'ground' out a vital three points in the end .... let's not forget that Everton won at Forest last week, and have generally been a 'tougher cookie' since Moyes returned there, so today was never really gonna be any cakewalk for us ..... we might not have even won it had Tarkowski not gone off injured.

Brilliant determination, movement and anticipation from young Nico O'Reilly to open the scoring so late on ... and the same could be said of Kovacic for our second ..... so 'alls well that ends well', let's just be happy with the win, and well done City!

Believe it or not. I like O'Riely and believe he is a brilliant young talents. My argument is that he should not be use as defender but in the middle or wing. Every single praise given to him is not about his defensive skills but about his contribution in creating chances and scoring goals.
Pep has said that O’Reilly is a number 10 really.
Playing full back will be good for the development of his game long term. You never know, he might edge Phil out of the first choices!
He is clearly a special talent.

Just got home.
Poor game until the substitutions then it all changed. Doku absoluteley killed them with his pace.
O'reilly superb and MOTM for me.
Gvardiol is a superb centre half.
KDB. No sentiment allowed. His time has come to move on and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to be honest. Touch, legs all looks laboured for him now.
Great win and makes Tuesday a huge game.
Oh by the way. Ortegas distribution is fucking awful.

I'm just glad we seem to look a little more solid defensively and didn't give away too much on the break. How much of that was us vs everton being shit is another conversation

We've definitely improved massively there. Since we got drubbed by Arsenal we've only conceded 7 goals in 9 games, and we've played Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs, Brighton and United in that time. If we'd managed that kind of defending all season, we wouldn't be where we are now.

He is not a defender.

People forget how many of these rough ones City had in title-winning seasons, including a few at Goodison. That's three cleans sheets out of four since switch to Josko to CB and insertion of Nico.

A point was good. Three is great. Means a draw against Villa would be just fine given winnable games at Southampton and Wolves next. Probably just need nine points from last five to get it over line.

Well well. I didn't expect that! Was out so following on here, seemed all very pedestrian.

Got home, found a river and by heck we scored two.

Just need Villa to beat Newcastle now to keep up the pressure.

I will try and watch a bit more on city+ tmw, but sounds like it was Rags mk2 until Nico and Kova scored.

At least we didn't concede after 30 seconds as is the usual MO these days....

3big points.
We don’t need to pressure the barcodes but we must keep an eye open for Villa coming up on the rails. If we finish 4th, all is good, so we can let the barcodes go.
