Well you need to be realistic, Kev's performances fell of a cliff and he is just an injury away - no matter how severe - to come to complete stop as a player. He is is like 95% down on what he was 2 years ago, not even a shadow of himself.

Gundog is still playing the same game, very often running it and although he is slowing down what is natural with his age, I can see him performing alongside Rodri and another MF. Very similar to how Merlin was fading away, unlike Kev who just got broken somehow.
Gundo's game also doesn't rely on his pace and our team's ability to press and win the ball higher up the pitch. With Rodri back and some more legs in the middle next season, Gundo shouldn't start even 15 PL games and should just be used for rotation in cups/CL and killing off games with possession.

Invisible mostly. Even around the ball, the touch and control seems to have deserted him. If he stays another season, it can only be in a sub role.
I don’t know how we can get another season out of him given he can’t move. He was completely anonymous tonight. I was amazed he stayed on for 90 mins and refuse to believe that Grealish or Foden couldn’t play that position and be better.

W11 D2 L1 of the 14 games he's started in 2025

Not his best game today, but he wasn't as bad as is being made out

Oh come on. He’s been absolutely dog shit.

We are getting away with it but it’s clear as day.

He plods around with no intent, can’t run and just has ZERO effect on a game.

Tonight we would have been better with any of the other central players in his role.

If he was as bad as you're saying, he wouldn't be starting nearly every game. Tough games that we've won, like Villa, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton, Bournemouth, Newcastle...

Think I'll trust Pep's judgement on this one

I just thought this would be interesting to share.

Gundogan has started the last 7 games from which we won 5 and drew 2.

The 8th last game he didnt start... and we lost.

Pep knows that Gundogan is practically the only player in the team who can do the role he is doing, and like earlier in the season he is being overplayed due to that trust.

Gundogan joined Kevin as false 10s, while Kova and Bernie operated near the CBs deep in the centre. Gundogan still joined them to control the centre as well at times, but he kind of played everywhere in the middle.

Id like to see Foden and Bobb when they regain fitness trialed as this duo of false 10s, but blaming Gundogan who has played way too much football this season than he should have doesnt seem right to me.

Tbh I don’t know pep is seeing week in week out but I suppose will have to stay with the plan as an aged gundo is better than foden or grealish .

yeah gündo pretty much was a ghost. he didnt play well against palace too.
everything he does is ultra slow nowadays and he cant press for the love of god. even when he tryed to make a run (pass wasnt played anyway) it looked like he was moving in slow motion.
