Cheers for that, time will tell :-)
That's another point for them tonight. They're clearly putting all their eggs in the CL basket. If they still had a decent shot at the title, they were unlikely to only draw that game tonight. We can get to 73 pts, so they need 7 (realistically 6, given the GD*) to finish above us.

*barring some unlikely large goal swings.

Still think it will be tight.

On paper we have the easiest run in.

Wolves have found a bit of form lately. Won last 5 and drawn 1.

Southampton away won't be easy. Even though they are related already.

Bournemouth at home hopefully they will be on the beach playing for nowt.

And same goes for Fulham away.

Re Wolves; so have we. 1 defeat in the last 10 in all comps.

Southampton? Won't be easy? Seriously? If we cant beat them, we don't deserve CL football.

Bournemouth? Their challenge for European football is slowly dying. 8 points behind 7th placed Villa. Unless a strange set of events means that 8th will get you into Europe.

Fulham? Like Bournemouth, pretty much marooned in mid table. Anyway; hopefully, we'll be going there not needing anything.

We'll piss it now.

I still don’t think we’ll make it. We can’t afford any more losses or draws as I don’t think any of our rivals will slip up.

This is going all the way to the wire and realistically I’ve already resigned myself to Europa League nights next season

I still think we need 70 points.

I'm worried about if we need 3 points going to Craven Cottage. We tend to have a difficult game there and Southhampton away.

So easy then :)

Agreed, it’s the time of the season that Arsenal, when challenging for the title, would lose tonight’s game

Who are you ? And what happened up Axel?

Fuck it.

After 7 years of looking no further than 2nd place and battling it out with only one team - I find it actually refreshing to be in a top 4 race with 4 or 5 teams relevant, where the table seems to change every week.
I'm just going to reiterate this, as I feel that way even more now.

Chelsea should forget it. How can they beat Newcastle, nottigham forest, liverpool (that game can win them the title) and even Everton. Well they might beat united though. But that game is still difficult. Aston villa i think has a better fixture than N forest. Anyone can beat spurs and man united (except us). Newcastle will be playing arsenal who will not have some incentives to play for by then.
That leaves city as firm favorites. We will beat southamption and wolves. That may be enough for us.

Southampton won't be easy?

Statistically that's our easiest away fixture in years.

6 more points for us does it now. Would be nice to beat Wolves and Southampton and get it done quickly, but those three wins in the past week or so have put us in an excellent spot.

I'm sticking with my earlier prediction that Forest would slide out of it and it would be Villa and Newcastle that join us.

It's done for me. Wolves (H) and Southampton (A), we should be winning those.

Focus shouldn't just be on top 5 now because we're going to do that. The focus should be what it was in 2016/17. Finish the season strongly (4 wins) and get ready for an assault on the league next season.

That run before Xmas.....if we'd only partly performed we'd be putting the real shite up the dips now.

I suppose the dips would say that they've eased off being so far clear but, that fucking run before Xmas!!!!
I can't be bothered going back and checking but I have wondered where we would be if games had ended at 80 minutes in those months before Christmas. In my head there were a few we were winning and lost in the last 10 minutes.

To be honest, the only one that really stands out in my mind is the derby. We really did throw that one completely away. We were driving in first gear towards an unremarkable 1-0 win and then we just handed it right to them on a plate. That would have us on 64 points.

We've lost points late on in some games but they were sort of inevitable. Brighton away and Brentford away - we deserved to drop points in those games, even if their goals did com late. We were flagging in both games and the opposition kept pushing, buoyed on by the home crowd.

And honestly, you could look at games like Wolves away and Arsenal at home and flip the coin again. We deserved to get the points we did from those games about as much as we deserved to drop points against Brighton and Bretford. In the end the league shakes out the way it shakes out for a reason.

But having said that, the derby is the one isn't it. We didn't lose that game because United were any good or because they forced us into anything, we just handed it to them with one terrible mistake from Nunes and then a collective headloss after their equaliser. That's the only proper sickener we've had this season imo.
