The semis should not be at Wembley anyway - end of. I understand anyone who wants to skip a trip to wembley.
The FA Cup has had so many of its traditions dismantled that I don't even see the point of neutral semi-finals anymore. If you can do away with replays, why can't you do away with neutral semi-finals? I'd have been happier with this weekend's semi-final being at either the City Ground or the Etihad. I know that's an unpopular view, but I'd be perfectly happy for neutrality to be done away with until the final, because I really think that getting to the final would feel more special. The FA are still paying for it aren’t they? Bring back the days of the neutral ground for semi’s, not the national stadium.
This could be played at Villa Park. Better atmosphere, sell out on both sides.

Makes sense. No the debt for the wembley rebuild was paid off a few years ago.
Now its just the FA being greedy bastards.
It doesn't confirm anything of the sort Marvin.
They count tickets distributed. So yes, they'll count all season card holders regardless of whether they were there or not, whether they listed on the exchange or didn't bother. They'll also count any other tickets given out, which will include tickets given to resellers, whether they sold or not. If they gave 1,000 tickets to colleges or universities they'll count those as part of the attendance whether used or not.
If someone from the ticket office was stood on Market St giving tickets away, those tickets would be counted as part of the attendance even if no one used those tickets.
How you could look at those distinct, contiguous blocks of empty seats on Tuesday night and conclude it was just season card holders defies logic. It was patently clear that, whoever they'd given them to, the club had distributed large numbers of tickets to third-parties that hadn't been sold.

Hold it at the larger venue with a 50-50 ticket split (unless the capacity begins with a "7"). All tickets to be sold via competing clubs including hospitality/corporate.The FA Cup has had so many of its traditions dismantled that I don't even see the point of neutral semi-finals anymore. Much the same for me.30 plus times since 2011 and this will be our 7th in just 2 years which is incredible,i'll be honest i'm not going and 90% of the match going lads i know aren't and it is apathy to be honest, we've been spoilt rotten.
Well that would be preferable, of course. Both of our suggestions are preferable to the status quo. I don't think this is just Wembley weariness on the part of our fans. I know plenty of City fans who felt that the Stoke final in 2011 just had the edge taken off by being there for one of the best days of our life a month earlier.Hold it at the larger venue with a 50-50 ticket split (unless the capacity begins with a "7"). To be fair to Marvin, he's usually a thoughtful and interesting poster but he clearly didn't understand how the numbers were calculated. It's also often difficult to understand how the club operates its ticket distribution mechanisms. I'm not even confident that the club understands it sometimes. For some reason I'm starting to get the belief that people are wasting their time here. It's genuinely not worthy of a reply or entering any dialogue with him.
Credit to Marvin for sticking to his guns despite the clear evidence that proves him wrong.
I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before, but if people want to know the actual attendance (ie, people physically in the ground), GMP have these numbers. To be fair to Marvin, he's usually a thoughtful and interesting poster but he clearly didn't understand how the numbers were calculated. I’ve thought about your point ref playing the semi out who gets drawn first and thinks it’s a decent idea. I would also say the away club must be given at least one full end though, no BS about security concerns, so if we were at home give Forest the full south stand. The FA Cup has had so many of its traditions dismantled that I don't even see the point of neutral semi-finals anymore. When the new Wembley opened the division of gate receipts changed. No the debt for the wembley rebuild was paid off a few years ago.

Iirc they actually stated there was 30,000 or some ridiculous figures.I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before, but if people want to know the actual attendance (ie, people physically in the ground), GMP have these numbers.

I thought they had to change the Charity Shield to Community because so little of the money actually went to charity? When the new Wembley opened the division of gate receipts changed.
Previously the FA and the two clubs got a third each after costs. That's how it had always been.
Since then, the two clubs share half of the gate receipts evenly after costs up to the semi finals. Then the FA take all the profits from the two semi finals and final.
It's a split that favours smaller clubs in earlier rounds and guarantees the FA a decent return for running the competition.
The reality is if this hadn't ever happened, Old Trafford would host one semifinal with Arsenal, Tottenham or West Ham possibly Liverpool hosting the other almost every year. Villa Park, Hillsborough etc are simply too small.
Yes Villa Park and Leicester's ground have been used for the Community Shield in recent years, but that money is for "charity"???? and not for commercial gain, so I'm sure different reasoning took place. It certainly wasn't travel considerations when City played Liverpool at Leicester a few years ago.
Yes Johnny, that was the reason for the change of name, the FA couldn't prove any of the money went to any charity from any previous match. I'm not sure where it goes now but "Community" is beautifully vague!!I thought they had to change the Charity Shield to Community because so little of the money actually went to charity?
The Charity Commission decided that the FA Chairman’s back pocket wasn’t a legitimate charity.I thought they had to change the Charity Shield to Community because so little of the money actually went to charity?
