I see two German tourists were arrested, detained and expelled because they had not booked hotels for the whole of their stay. ICE doing wonders for tourism.

That’s mad if true, I remember touring in 1990 and just went to the nearest motel for a night wherever available, if I’d been doing the whole of the club World Cup that’s what I’d have done as well.

And if going for the club world cup, how do you know in which city you'd need hotels?

Will be interesting for next years World Cup when thousands are doing similar.
Saw some info that FIFA were doing initial discussing about making the WC only be hosted in Mexico & Canada, removing US games.
Even if just hearsay, it would be remiss if they didn’t start assessing and planning for that eventuality… maybe when they notice a waning of ticket buying for US stadia, or even an uptick in cancellations

The US is claiming they were there to work and so were just refused entry. This doesn't tally at all with the accounts from the two women. Their account seems plausible and reputable news outlets have run with it. I suspect most non Americans will be inclined to believe their version of events rather than the administrations.

Which highlights the problem that in double quick time the US has trashed it's own reputation in terms of truth, the rule of law and what constitutes civilised behaviour. How long it will take to restore this if/when it recovers from the current administration remains to be seen but it generally takes a lot longer to regain trust than to lose it in the first place.

Pillow guy is suing an ex-Dominion chap for defamation.

His lawyers have submitted a brief, and Judge Wang appears, well, unimpressed.

In her ruling, Wang wrote, "...the Court identified nearly thirty defective citations in the Opposition. These defects include but are not limited to misquotes of cited cases; misrepresentations of principles of law associated with cited cases, including discussions of legal principles that simply do not appear within such decisions; misstatements regarding whether case law originated from a binding authority such as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit; misattributions of case law to this District; and most egregiously, citation of cases that do not exist."

"Not until this Court asked Mr. Kachouroff directly whether the Opposition was the product of generative artificial intelligence did Mr. Kachouroff admit that he did, in fact, use generative artificial intelligence. After further questioning, Mr. Kachouroff admitted that he failed to cite check the authority in the Opposition after such use before filing it with the Court—despite understanding his obligations under Rule 11 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure."

She added, "Counsel will specifically address, under the oath subject to the penalty of perjury, the circumstances surrounding the preparation of the Opposition to Plaintiff's Motion in Limine, including but not limited to whether Defendants were advised and approved of their counsel's use of generative artificial intelligence …."

It would be great! Unfortunately knowing FIFA is FIFA, they must likely have no problem at all with how things are done in the US nowadays.

Quick reminder that FIFA kept Russia as hosts for the 2018 World Cup four years after the initial invasion of Ukraine and a few months after a biological weapon attack in the UK. It will take more than a mango Mussolini acting like a **** to make them change their minds.

Got to travel over to the states for work. Want to know your social media profiles now, getting worse than fucking China.
No wonder tourism is taking a big hit.
