Nottingham Forest (N) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Hi All. Attended very first City match yesterday with my family and it was a very enjoyable occasion. Managed to source some tickets through Live Football tickets in the end. Thanks to everyone who answered questions and gave their advice. My son was over the moon to see City in real life and I have to say all the supporters around us were great. Plenty of singing going on. Couldn’t quite make out some of the chants. Good luck in the final

Probably not a bad thing.

Plot twist - you're 96 & your son is 71.

There are some who would say that for the real City experience your lad should have seen a 2-1 defeat via two own goals in the last minute. But glad you all enjoyed it anyway.

pregame, few arguements broke out up Wembley Way with Forest fans getting angry calling us cheats, until they were told only one club out of the two playing having been found guilty of anything.

one lad in glasses was close to tears, over it all. Police split up older blokes confronting each other, I had to pull a mate back.

Was on the lower tier, had a big block of empty seats that were full 2nd half. Team played well, amazing start to the game, should have been 2 or 3 up.

2nd half pretty much the same, rode our luck a little bit with the posts being hit, that MGW strike would of been a beauty if it went in, felt for Jack with the tackle on MGW but high foot means one thing.

Geniunely looked liked we would score 4 or 5 goals but seemed to be more content with the extra passes across the box.

Fair play to those who went today, made a racket, really enjoyed it again compared to where we sit in CB3 and its quiet as a mouse.

I will say this, City MUST allow everyone who went to that game yesterday first refusal on final tickets, doesn't matter the reason people couldn't go, but City need to let the fans who went yesterday first option on tickets.

Felt for the young lad who thought he was going home with the matchball, only mistake was wanting more pics with it near the exits, where police and a club steward from City where waiting and demanding he hands over the ball, stewards from wembley were sympathetic, the dad didn't appreciate it, could see him disagreeing what went on.

Forest fans were loud pregame, mainly quiet throughout the game apart from a section in the 2nd half. Least they stuck about near the end. Embrassing they seemed to have picked up cheating bastards chants from their mates in Stretford.

Geniunely cringe at how many adult Newcastle fans wear their club tops, well Forest trumped that yesterday!

Few of them tried bullying small groups of city fans, but didn't get violent.

At work today and feel like i've been hit by a bus, got home at 1.30 am after going the long way home due to the M1/M6!!

Totally agree. I said this to a few people yesterday and all were in agreement. Of course they won’t do this, but they should.

I can empathise with your sentiment as the fans yesterday were brilliant, but the cup scheme is there for a reason, you can’t change the rules now.

Atrocious coverage. I watched, but as usual had recorded the game. Watched the prematch stuff back later and wondered if we were actually playing?? It was all Forest.

Expect more of the same Palace bias on final day....
I won’t be watching ITV, as I can’t stand the dog wanker, and I’ve always thought that the BBC's coverage of sport - not just football - is far superior to ITV.

I'd love this to be happen but I doubt it. Be great to take my nephew to a final and hope his streak of never seeing city lose continues. He was bouncing last night.

Played well first half but got a bit sloppy after we went 2 up which gave them a few chances in the 2nd half.
Yes, that is something we must cut out of our game. We are not able to see games out like we used to. Rodri was a master at the. I think we tired a little too.

Be interesting to see how many of them who went yesterday were on the cup scheme then!

Whilst the reaction from Nuno and the Forest players was gracious afterwards, if I was a Forest fan I'd be annoyed that they weren't more upset about losing a Wembley semi-final.

It's almost as though deep down they didn't believe that they could really beat us twice in a season, and that going down so early just confirmed that feeling.

A strange game - generally felt comfortable, yet we could have lost it with a few inches difference here or there.

It seems like a couple or more are remembering how to play the 'City' way - and are getting used to winning.

Amazing what a short run can do for everybody, both on the pitch and on here...

Watching Phil (despite his poor season), Rico and Nico all on the field at the same time for a FA cup semi is special. Just having academy players on the field feels so nice. Golden boy Oscar get well soon, lad.

Superb from Pep. He played no centre forward and the two tree trunks had nobody to mark, instead he split savinho and Marmoush and played a box midfield with Rico and jack at the front, we never lost control of that midfield and I think we were miles the better side despite their breakaways which seemed to stem from our mistakes.

Yeah, that was very visible. Slight smile on his face, but nothing more. I actually suspect he wasn't exactly pleased with the performance, just the result — especially that way they were cutting through us and wearing out the woodwork in the second half. Watch that Elanga chance at the beginning of the second half, he goes blithely sailing past two City defenders (one of whom is I think Dias) without either of them being the slightest bit aware of him. It wasn't the only time the defence went completely to sleep, either.
He'll have a public voice for that performance, and I suspect a private one for the dressing room and the training pitch this week.

Edit: I've slandered Rúben. Had another look. Nico O'Reilly saw him all right, but from approximately the same starting position Elanga simply left him behind. And Nico is not slow. Gvardiol doesn't seem to be aware of him and he snuck past him. Should have been a goal.
Nico didn’t track that run at all. No dig as he’s been having a lot of game time recently but could not keep up there
