Nottingham Forest (N) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Apart from some unforced errors and mistakes, which there have been many this season unfortunately, i think that was one of our best performances tbh. First half we seemed to have that control back that we've not had in months, Kovacic excellent and i thought again Bernardo looked close to his old self (minus a few lazy passes).
We were good in the first half, but we play ourselves into trouble more often than we used to. We also don't press like we used to either. We also don't counter like we used to (although yesterday was better in that regard). And while i've been pretty vocal about our general play style this year it was better and we are missing the best player in the world and the best striker in the world yesterday so all in all, wasn't a bad day out!

Happy with that yesterday, two games in a row now against two teams who are having very good seasons in Forest and Villa we have managed to control the game. First half we strangled Forest and gave them nothing, they came into it more going searching to get back into the game but the second goal helped steady and nerves from City’s side of things.

Yesterday’s win also is the first time we’ve won four games in a row since the opening month of the season. Don’t want to jinx things but I think we have the potential to win the remaining games in the league and the cup final, they need to get back to having that belief they can go on long runs again. Hopefully having Rodri in an around the match day squad in the coming weeks might give a few of them a boot up the arse. In the documentaries City put out he always seemed to take no prisoners in dressing room and demanded the effort he was putting in from others.

I also hope they were watching what happened at Anfield yesterday and it gives them that hunger to go back towards the summit again. After a dog shit Autumn/winter of form we can finish on a positive with champions league football secured an Fa cup final a the inaugural club World Cup on the horizon.

We were lucky today. We have used all the luck in one game. Hope we kept some luck for the final. Shambolic performance by some of our defenders.

Funnily enough I was talking to my brother about this last night. I’d heard during the week that Forest had won three penalty shootouts in the competition this year. There’s no doubt that they had a bit of luck to get through three.

Maybe they ran out of yesterday?

Couldn’t ask for a better semi final than that. Early goal, totally dominant first half, couple of scares after the break but once the 2nd went in we were pretty much home and dry.

Sensational Bernie absolutely ran the show. Kova and Rico were top notch and Marmoush was a real threat.

Great on the pitch, great off the pitch.

‘couple’ of scares ? [emoji15] 3 woodwork, and Elanga should have scored, and a couple of goalmouth skirmishes.

We dominated parts of the game and could have conceded 5 !

That was a fantastic shot from Gibbs-White that hit the bar but I thought the chance when he hit the post was a bad miss. Couldn’t believe it didn’t go in.

Cannot think of a quieter support at Wembley than the Forest fans yesterday.
Maybe Arsenal in the 3/0 League Cup final.
I thought they were loud when the teams came out for he warm up and just before kick off , but I think the early Goal from Rico took the wind out the sails for them , they only started really singing again near the end when the game was over .

Well you clearly didn’t get the memo. Forest now have the bestest and loyalist fans of all time, even eclipsing the dippers. They sold all of their tickets to cement their place in history. It was on the news and everything

Yep. After stumbling past Exeter Ipswich and Brighton on penalties ,...no more luck available.
