As impossibilities go, this is an absolute impossibility.
 
This weekend:

Fri- City v Wolves

Sat- Villa v Fulham

Sun- Brighton v Newcastle
Sun- Chelsea v Liverpool
Sun- Palace v Forest
 
Great result tonight for us, if we win tomorrow we will be in an excellent position to secure a top 4 place.

I hadn't considered Forest plays Chelsea too.

But it is very possible though unlikely Newcastle and Forest both win their last 4. That would put Chelsea at 66 max.

Or if they win 3 each.. then 69 max for Forest & Chelsea which means we need 70.

Yep we need at least 9 points then to hit 70. That'll do it!

6 more points to be sure. Beat Wolves, beat Southampton and it's job done in my opinion. Some on here think they're going for the title. The others around us aren't winning all of their games or they'd be above us already. Just need to keep the good run going, win three more games to make CL and win the FA Cup and then give De Bruyne a send off in the final two.

Didn’t know that, that’s bollocks. I was hoping for the players to have two weeks of rest. All our players will get this summer is a few weeks after the CWC finishes.
 
I think Forest are in trouble.

Palace away next and have Chelsea at home on the last day.

Maybe, just maybe West Ham could do something at home as well.

I am not completely writing off Chelsea yet. I think Liverpool at Stamford Bridge this weekend will be telling. If they can win that Chelsea are well and truly in it.

We are home and dry in my opinion. Favourable fixtures, the most experienced and the team playing the better football at the moment. I think we will have 2nd on our minds if Arsenal mess up.
 
70 points is enough to guarantee top five for us as we only need to finish above two from these three:

Villa can only reach 69 points
Forest can reach 72 points but only by beating Chelsea
Chelsea can reach 72 points but only by beating Forest

So with us on 70 points Villa couldn't catch us, and the only way that Forest AND Chelsea could finish above us is if they each win their other three games and draw with each other.

Even in that scenario, the chances of Forest finishing above us on goal difference is effectively zero.

But forest and Chelsea play each other on the last day so they both can't get to 72

Technically, 70 points isn't 100% because if forest win their next 3 games 10-0 and then draw with chelsea, they will finish above us on 70 points.
But yeah, 70 points and we are home and dry.

I think we will be guaranteed it the day after the fa cup final because other teams will slip up.

Chelsea would also have to win their next three games and they play dippers, barcodes and rags.

Yeah I don't know how the fuck we deal with it going into next season.

There are 4 weeks between the CWC final and the Community Shield. You can be certain Pep will be doing everything he can for us to win the CWC but even if we only make the QFs that only gives us one more week. The PL starts the week after the Community Shield.

So in 4-6 weeks not only do the players need a break they also need to then come back and get into shape for a new campaign.

I would expect us to enter the new season nursing players back and doing our best to plug away so we're not completely fucked by the end of next season which is followed by a World Cup of course!

A few will have international exemptions, if we're wrapped up by Fulham then I think most will get 7-10 days before the CWC.

England for example have Andorra and then a friendly against Senegal, so the English lads for sure will be exempt.

Norway probably need Haaland though. Spain, Germany, Portugal and France play the Nations League semis and final unfortunately.

We should pull out of the charity shield and just tell them they wouldn't put ours and Chelsea's game back so our players need there rest!

Not suee we will be impacted by this much. I would be surprised if Rodri plays otherwise it is just our Portuguese boys.
