Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

My only visit this season to the Etihad last night. Enjoyed the game (whilst wishing at times we created more chances) and i thought the atmosphere was good.

But blimey I travelled via Woodhead. May have been due to a Friday night game but traffic was awful as you got closer to Manchester.

But 3 points!!
I was in Manchester but vaguely aware from the news that there were a lot of problems around the M62.

It was a very important 3 points and I enjoyed seeing City get the win. I think Pep's set-up is very boring but I also think it's necessary in the short term. Hopefully Haaland's return is going to get us over the line with CL qualification. I felt bad for Marmoush last night. I saw him make a lot of runs but we were too concerned with keep ball to play the pass.

We are quite a different side now to the team that lost 4-0 to Spurs. I think Pep has accepted that he can't play forward vertical passes with this side. It needs to be rebuilt. There are good signs already with O'Reilly and Rico. Rico is a midfielder. So if O'Reilly but for much of the time they have been played as full backs. Next season I believe we will be better, particularly if this side can get us over the line and into CL qualification.

That because theM62 was closed and caused traffic chaos round the are. Took me an hour to do a journey that normally takes 20 minutes

70m on Marmoush won't age well . He won't play much next year .
A forward can't play without support. He made a lot of runs but City were never going to make the risky forward pass last night. I'd be amazed if City buy another forward. I regard Marmoush as a very good signing. He will be a lot better alongisde Haaland and in front of a midfield that can play early balls and support him with runs. None of that happened yesterday as City were in game management mode for the entire 2nd half, rightly so with the players available.

We are 3rd, just behind Arsenal who are a young side who should be at their peak whilst we have a catalogue of aging players and injuries. I think Pep did make mistakes in the Summer transfer market and took a very long time to trust in the younger players, but eventually he found a system that will work

Still maintain that Gundo wasn't a mistake at the time. The idea was right, we just ended up getting far too many crucial injuries that made him a first team starter, when all he should have been doing is final 15-20 minute cameos and a steady voice in the dressing room.
Possibly. I don't like him and KDB in the side though. I would like to see Rico and O'Reilly in there. I like Rico a lot but he has been played out of position. In truth we've halted Rico's progression this season which is sad.

It really was not. Yes you had a couple of chances but hitting the post is not a shot on target and you created nothing in the second half. The Cunha shot that hit the post would have been saved by Ederson if it were other side of the frame. And you conveniently omit that you should have been down to 10 men for a disgraceful studs in tackle.
Wow you really have it out for us since I posted lol
Admittedly I haven’t even seen the tackle I drove home and went to sleep. I didn’t think anything of it as there was no var check in the stadium? I will look though. I wouldn’t say couple of chances if you had it the other way round, you’d be saying you battered us lol

You can’t really argue it wasnt tight when you won 1-0 and you were controlling the game holding onto the win until the end lol, maybe holding on is too strong but I wouldn’t say the stadium was comfortable either; just wish we had more guts to go for it earlier than we did. Can you tell me any other clearer chance you had than us?

An observation re Doku. His pace/threat comes from a standing start and only over a distance of 5-10 yards. When he has the opportunity to break from either the half-way line or just inside our own half he cannot sustain it and his pace is matched by the defenders. It's a bit like watching a sprinter who is great out of the blocks but after 20-30 yards the field draws level/ passes him
But unlike a sprinter Doku doesn't have to stay in lane so can run in front of the defender once he has the ball.

But we're still giving him almost 90 minutes when we have other players available.

Bernado fortunate he didn’t end up with a broken leg - clearest straight red of the season - not even debatable
It looked accidental in real time - but it looked calculated and deliberate on the replay. A really nasty foul, definitely one of the clearest reds you’ll ever see. What a useless twat of a referee,

Very fortunate 3 points but 3 points it is.
We are toothless though, zero creativity, zero goal threat, weak in the tackle as always losing 50/50 challenges.
Thank god for the post as Ederson only had 3 shots to deal
with, post saved him twice and the other off the line.
How this team is 3rd is baffling
After the last 2 games we need to add the post to MOTM votes
City are far from toothless, it's just that the teeth we need are not playing for different reasons.
Haaland and Bobb to return and we have our Ballon d'Or winner to come back.
Foden has been off form and Pep is keeping Grealish on a short leash.
The defence is relying on Nunez to shore it up (he has had to change his game to play there and attracted some unwarranted criticism as a result).
So things are looking good for the new season imo.

Thought Wolves played well, should've scored but didn't.

We took our chance and held on.

The challenge was terrible though, makes you think, what is the point of VAR if not giving that as a Red.
