Will be interesting to see who else follows him out of the door in the summer.

If the other players with terrible injury records leave as well, then you can understand the club’s decision. We need a younger, more mobile and fitter squad who can be relied upon to play the large majority of games without too much disruption.

If however Ake and Stones are both here next season, then it becomes a bit harder to understand, even accounting for De Bruyne’s wages.

He is out of contract, the others are not bar IG.

You can't sack players or force them to leave. You can release players at lot easier.

Ake and Stones aren't out of contract are they?

They aren’t.

But if the motivation for De Bruyne not being offered a new deal is to do with player availability and the levels of physicality within the squad, then the same criteria should be applied to other players as well.

De Bruyne is still a very good player and would happily sign a new contract for us. Factors other than his ability have influenced the club’s decision, and those factors are unlikely to be exclusive to De Bruyne.

You appear to be ignoring the fact that he is out of contract and that the others aren't. Available isn't the same as Contracted

I don’t think it’s strange at all.
We have a 34 year old legend whose contract is ending.
We are using his experience to get us over the line this season.
The Club needs to move forward and not look back.
Hanging on to nostalgia is what the Rags do.
It’s not hanging on to nostalgia, it’s using a quality player to help us next season too? And he’s more than a year younger than Gundo, but he gets another season. Anyway doesn’t matter, he’s off and that’s that.

Surely it's the wages. They are grotesque, let's have it right. Cut them in half and he still owns more in a week than than most of us do in three years. Can't we meet half way or does rampant greed always have to rule. No offence to KDB. Doesn't mean he isn't the GOAT but God knows, he doesn't need the money. If he's beenoffered a pay cut and City are ignoring this, I stand corrected.

Idon't think it has anything to do with money, I think it's all about trying to make some room in the squad for the next generation,we need a few to go easiest will be KDB Walker,Grealish but need at least one of Kovacic and Silva to go too.

Ake and Stones still under contract?

Nobody stop to think the club are doing right by Kevin here?

Every time I read these bloody 'Oh just keep him for 150k a week for the odd 20 minutes every 4 or 5 games, he has deserved it!' comments I cringe into.my collar. Disrespectful fuckers!

He deserves much better than being lowballed and kept around as a luxury memento. He deserves to leave with his head high, our love, time to be appreciated and say goodbye, time to sort out his future, and the memories sweet.

The club have nailed it imo!

Club is also doing right by the club. Irrespective of the player, if doubts persist over continued fitness, then contracts cannot be renewed and those remaining under contract need to accept the new reality.

Kev isn't going to poison his relationship with the fans by saying he won't take a pay cut, a substantial one at that.

City aren't going to insult him with a pay-as-you-play offer, either.

I suspect, like most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle and even £150k a week would not be sufficient for Kev, certainly when as a free agent, he can collect a £20m-plus signing fee, hopefully.

If his injuries weren't so regular, I'd be more worried about a club in England or a big European rival, taking a punt.

I'd like to see him on a season to season contract, he has had some pretty decent games for us recently and the fitter he stays for longer would only benefit him and us,
KDB has never played well when it's been an occasional game. He always required a few games on the spin to gain any match momentum and form
The only exception to this was the appearance at Newcastle when he was a game changing substitution (Bobb last minute winner)

And no one should say he's been a "great servant" to the club
He's been earning 200/300k a week, which is hardly a servants salary

He's been an absolute outstanding player and role model at City. One of our greatest ever, but he's well past his peak and we have to move on
It's sad, and in the takeover era, he's another match winner that we were blessed to have had, alongside Dave, Yaya and Sergio

ever thought he may not want to leave, maybe he'd be quite happy taking a wage reduction and playing minimal games while working on the training ground with his replacement,if that was the situation we could get another 12 months out of him,no question about that, a lot depends on who we replace him with,if we take a gamble and sign a player for the future who hasnt quite stepped up yet then i think that would be a good thing,if we sign a player of quality thats doing it week in week out then its not, the club will know by now who there target is,i think the later of the two type of players is what the club will get and they will pay whatever it needs
