we dont know whats been said behind the scenes so its all a bit irrelevant.

Clearly he cant be on £400k a week. Hes one player i would be leaving the decision up to him, on favourable terms, that works for all.

He was wonderful but we need to rebuild. This season was spiralling out of control until the January window and Pep's decision to play O'Reilly. We need to follow through with rebuilding the team.

He's still as good if not better than half the current forst team who run around a lot without any final product. Should be given a new contract, protected by playing less, more from the bench and league cup games and use his knowledge around the squad. Fuck me if we're keeping t Scott Carson until he's 90 then another year for Kevin surely is worth trying.

Kev leaving is symbolic. It is a message to all that the old era is over and it’s time for a new team.
I just wish it was with our new head coach, whoever that might be. A complete new era, not just a new team on the pitch. It doesn’t feel right for Pep to kick off the new era and then retire or whatever just as it takes off.

I'm really starting to struggle with coming to terms with this now. He's showing that when fit and has had a run to games, he's first team quality in a team that would expect to be gunning for the title. I'm hopeful there's still a deal to be done, but realistically I know it's very unlikely.

He's still easily good enough to destroy teams who rock up to the Etihad for a draw, and he's a difference maker and tailsman for big games too.

God, I hope we have something special lined up to replace him. If he stays in the premier league after leaving us, I think that would be very hard to watch either way as he'd either be destroying teams in another shirt, or struggling in full view.

With Kev seemingly wanting to stay you’d think they could have come to some sort of agreement on another year.

He’d obviously have to understand 400k isn’t going to happen but surely some sort of basic wage with big bonus every 75min played?

He should certainly be here another year.

It’s a strange situation. You get the feeling he would love to stay under any circumstances but maybe he wants same terms as he’s on now?? Bit of a mystery when it seems we’ll be keeping others?

A lot of thinking with hearts rather than heads all round last night. Kdb is a legend, but realistically it's time for us to move on and kev to get the big pay day in MLS or Saudi. It's be sad to see him deteriorating over another season or two, just reduced to cameos.

Personally, I thought he was absolute bobbins bar his goal, not sure what anybody else saw last night to justify praise.

It’s time to go, as I’ve said previously we are in an unfortunate position that we have both Bernie and Gundo with 1 year left, consequently we can’t keep them all again next season. Maybe if Bernie and Gundo had been out of contract we’d have offered Kev a deal, but alas that is not the case,

But then he takes up a squad place and limits us bringing in anyone else. Then if next season when we are playing twice a week he breaks down again we are in exactly the same position as this year . Especilally if Gudogan and Bernardo aren't moving on. It's time sad but true.

Yep. Just hard to process but I agree, he is now only good in parts. I doubt he could do a full season in PL; FA cup & CL

Honestly there’s some rubbish being talked about Kev. carragher apparently said last night this was a “financial decision” which is laughable.

His legs have gone and he’s not at our standard anymore. We can’t have players in that situation in the squad any more, needing game time. The time is exactly right to let him go a hero at the end of this season. Exactly like Zab, Vinny, Sergio, David and Yaya did and not one of those went too early.

He deserves to leave as a true legend of MCFC and he needs to play at a lower standard for a year or so and then retire. I assume USA if his family want that.

I get the injury side but when you say taking up a place, it’s not like he’s a nobody. He’s our best player when he plays, still. I’d rather have Kev in the squad over Gundo, Kovacic or Bernardo.

Except it isn't over those 3 it's over whover his replacement would be, marbe Wirtz or whoever.

He's better than Gundo but Bernardo and Kovacic especially are much better now.

KDB has been average this season with a couple of noteworthy performances such as Palace.

He turns 34 this summer and will only get worse.

He isn't the only one to whom we need to say goodbye, though.

he really isn’t our best player any more. He can’t do what he used to do I’m afraid. He does odd good things but that’s that.
