Stadium Developments thread - San Siro to be demolished (p56)

I’m not sure I’d be happy with that if I was a Newcastle fan. The capacity isn’t being increased that much and the main increase is actually through hospitality, which could kill the atmosphere
A lot of us think the capacity should be 70k at least. Most of the reporters who m are reporting on it seem to indicate that it would be around about this figure, and only really one person (Luke Edwards) has said that it will be a 65k seater. Luke Edwards in his latest article though suggests that no figure or design has been finalised with the club now saying to get as many people in as they can, and him believing a 70k capacity is a more realistic option now.

From my point of view, 70k/80k is the sweet spot. I think going above 80k could reduce the atmosphere and could potentially leave it so we have too many empty seats if we Donny take off as expected, and 70k should be the minimum we look at, especially if we are looking at hosting other events and European finals.

Rumoured leaked new stand at Villa. The original plans would have seen the current stand demolished but this new configuration would see the current stand stay open.

The purple would be the expanded sections.

- Lower tier re-laid with increased capacity
- One row of boxes would be removed to aid capacity increase
- Remaining row of boxes would be turned into a premium seating offering
- Upper tier expanded in all directions

Confirmed

A reminder of the cancelled original design which was more ambitious but would have required the closure and demolition of the current stand. The new design was chosen as it will link together with the current build.

So many of those are not going to happen.

That Leicester stand was proposed years ago, since then their owners seem to have lost a bit of interest in the club, and they have been relegated to the Championship twice.

That Millwall new stand looks great, but again it’s an old concept that I doubt will see the light of day.

The Chelsea fiasco is a mess, even if they did go to Earl’s Court, there is still a lack of room for them to build a new stadium. I don’t think you are getting a bigger stadium on the Stamford Bridge site because of the lack of access, unless you knock down some listed Georgian houses, or send a walkway through a graveyard there is no real options to extend on that site.

The Sheffield stand just looks like an AI image, I’d question any architect who’s behind it if it is real.

I’ve already discussed my thoughts on the new Man Utd stadium. Probably closer to a decade away from them being able to start any work, and the plans are unrealistic and quite frankly laughable. I mean look at that fucking design.

The Wasps thing doesn’t convince me either. They have moved and moved in the hunt to find a significant fanbase. They have ultimately went bust and are apparently coming back. Who’s to say they will find a fanbase where they plan on building a new stadium, heck the whole of club Rugby Union is facing an ongoing threat in this country.
