Morgan Gibbs-White

Think he would be a regular starter and a good player in our next version. 2 seasons from now I think we might be comparing him with Bernardo. Has that energy, tenacity, good in tight spaces and sees a pass.
There may be equivalent foreign players that might be cheaper but the reason we would choose MGW is because he’s homegrown, doesn’t mean he’s a lesser player than the foreign players though just maybe a bit more expensive.
If we sign him I hope you are correct. But from what I have seen from him the 30+ times I’ve seen him play little to nothing suggests you are.

I cannot stand MGW and genuinely don’t rate him BUT if he signs I will support him - I was appalled when we signed Bellamy but once he became our nasty c*** I grew to quite like him - so maybe MGW will win me over or I’m just fickle when someone is in our blue shirt. Can’t help thinking there must be better out there for £80m plus.

Introduce Divine Mukasa into the first team and spend the money elsewhere.

Gibbs-White is in the Nunes, Phillips and Wilfred Bony bracket of players.

Grealish may not have done much over the last two seasons, Although I'd be pretty confident that Jack would he a far better proposition in the number 10 role than that donkey Gibbs-White.

It's not that I can't stand him it's don't think he is good enough?! As always though if signed I'll back him then judge him in a pep team! Pep no mug he gets him in trainer he will suss him out and if not good enough he won't play him like he did with Philips and nunes

„ if not good enough he won’t play him like he did with Philips and Nunes“ do you see the problem here? Not only will he cost the price of those 2 together but right now we don’t even know if he‘s good enough - yet we gonna splash 100M. Imagine buying someone for 100M and you don’t even know if he‘s the real deal.
This screams Grealish 2.0. If you need an 8 just buy Reijnders. Also MGW plays the 10 since forever. Why are we buying players for 100M to play different positions? Who even does that? Gvardiol is a better CB than LB too. Grealish didn’t get the freedom he had in Villa.

Aye, if we're spending that sort of money, I'd rather it be on someone like Adam Wharton who's at least young enough to grow into something really special. MGW is 25, which means he should already be at a level to start for us.

Say what you want about Grealish, but he was absolutely brilliant for Villa and you could tell he had the technical ability to be great from a young age. Grealish might not have shown the consistency since joining, but he's shown world class ability on occasions. I've not seen that level of technical ability from MGW. He's much more of a Milner-style signing for me. And don't get me wrong, most people would say Milner was good for us, but he was never the first name on the team sheet and rarely played in the position he was supposedly signed for.

Sorry, should have been clearer.

Getting MGW means one of Carson, Stones, Ake & Grealish has to go. McAtee staying or going makes no difference to that. Last year of his contract, just a case of where he goes now.

Think it just boils down to player type, we have players who can do what McAtee can do in abundance, we don't in MGW really.
Well Carson needs to go. Sign him as a coach if you want him around the club. I suspect Ake, Stones & Grealish will go. The first two because of their recurring injuries, and I think Jack will want more playing time because of the World Cup.

Stones is the only question mark for me. Jack is gone already. Carson and Ake stay I reckon.

Carson is 40 in September and his best days where behind him at 30. We are wasting a spot in the squad with him.
The 3rd GK is always going to be someone experienced with his best days well behind him. Thats why they are willing to take that role despite knowing they will play zero minutes.

Carson simply isn't good enough to be a 3rd choice. Buy someone who is around 35 and has at least a bit of agility if you want experience. Personally I would be looking at our academy, because it's very unlikely he will play. This would free Carson's spot for a homegrown outfield player like Wharton.

If we are going to sign him for between £80m-£100m like whats being reported then I dont fancy this transfer at all. makes it even worse if he gets massive wages too. just dont think its worth it at all. however if we get him for £40m-£50m with modest wages then I think its ok. not great but ok

I might be wrong here, but I think clubs need to name 3 keepers in their 25 man squads.

U21s don’t need to be registered in the PL squad and can be added to the CL B list if they’ve been at the club for 2 years.

Therefore, a 3rd keeper is always likely to be an association trained older keeper, who is mostly a coach and a cheerleader for the other two keepers in the squad.
