I have a hunch, and this is just a hunch

Physically, he looks ready for the Prem. 6'5, very fit. Strong. The stats back this up. Dominant in the air. Looks solid on the ball.

His rise has been meteoric. how quickly he's gone from relative obscurity to "signing for man City" to "excelling in La Liga/Ligue 1" is unusual, to say the least.

I have a feeling he gets a shot at the team. I have a feeling he's not going to be out of place.

We might have a real gem.

What’s his passing like?

His stats are absolutely elite.
I have watched him several times now and he is exceptional defensively. Like many out-and-out defenders, he would (in our system) benefit from a footballing brain alongside him. He has enormous potential and has the time to develop the skills required as long as he spends time in the right environments. I did read that he has been told that he will get opportunities at City next season due to departures, though I am wary of believing much that appears.

Was told on Sunday, by a very good source, that one definitely and another possible defenders will be leaving the club at the end of the season to free up squad place(s). I pushed him for names but he wouldn't tell me

Even if John and Nathan go, and Reis goes on loan to Girona maybe, that leaves Manu, Ruben, Josko, Kusanov and Bah. We could probably cope with that.
Agreed that Bah looks the business in the French league.

I can easily see him integrated next season.

Ive had some doubts about whether Pep does this double wide fullback next season long term.

I suspect, he may tilt only 1 fullback, and hence play a more CB on the other side for a back 3,

OR

Go back to 4 defenders with one CB into midfield.

I'm think he gets a loan or is at best a backups backup next season here. He's clearly great in a defensive setup but we dominate the ball for 90% of the game and his passing stats are even more raw than the rest of his game

He would be perfect if we went to a system like last years where we morph into a back 3 with him in the centre.

He just needs to offload the ball tot he wide CBs for passing, while he clears stuff up at the back.

Looking at your passes statistics that you linked, it shows he doesn't do alot of passes, but that's not really a knock against him as that is simply the system not requiring him to do it.

Instead I like that his medium passes (typically line breaking ground passes) at around 95% is encouraging.

His long passing % is quite low, but we probably just don't need him to do that as much if its a weakness.
