Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Do you think people are gonna stay up till 2am to watch City play the mighty Wyad AC or Al Ain.

Half of the teams aren’t even league one or two level equivalent.

The competition is a reaction to the super league rumblings, FIFA wanted a piece and now they have it. They’ve fabricated a competition, its importance and even bought their own sponsorship.

It’s all about money, and you’re falling for it.

The world’s best teams play in Europe, and all the money in the world from America and Saudi isn’t going to change that.
The game in Philly kicks off at 5pm UK time.

I’m personally looking forward to it - each to there own I guess.
And you have every right to be looking forward to it. Some of us particularly my age struggle with City playing in America the cost and razzamatazz that goes with it along with the fact our players are knackered. Enjoy it and if you are going make the most of your experience, you are allowed too.

If we win this, I'll be swaggering around for the next 4 years bragging that we are the World Champions.

I'll also remind any fucker that seeks to dismiss this competition that, in 1999/2000, united were excused from entering the FA Cup, so that they could compete in this tournament so prestigious is it. Of course this, historically, devalued the FA Cup for everyone else that year but, as everybody agreed at the time, that's a small price to pay for the glory of English football.

it probably goes without saying that they remain the only club to have been given that dispensation by the FA.

Apart being factually completely wrong though
It is correct. Every competing team has won their continent’s equivalent of the European Cup. Except one team shoehorned into it.
We should , however, be grateful only one team was shoehorned into it, they could have easily dragged the rags and red scouse in there to far the same treason as having Messi in there

My concern is the lack of rest the squad will have after the end of this season and before the beginning of the new season.

If Pep takes it seriously and plays his best players I think we can kiss goodbye to the PL and also an early exit from the CL.

Personally I won’t be watching it and have very little interest in the competition.
We won’t be competing next year because of this sham competition and it’s a shame because with a few new faces I think we could easily topple Liverpool, who for me are poor quality champions in a poor season

We were also told that the rags not being permitted to enter the tournament by the FA, could seriously damage England’s bid to host the World Cup finals in 2004.
That’s right. The rags did it for all of us and as a result, the er, well, er, Germany hosted the World Cup!

Bloody hell I just checked. Didn’t realise that. 9pm Sunday evening, that will be fun ending 11pm. Can really see the locals turning up for that one!
It'll be interesting to see how it compares to a European away day in terms of routine and boozing throughout the day.

We arrive on the Friday afternoon so would only have 2 days to adjust our body clocks.

I think the club from a business sense will be taking it seriously, the prize money alone could beat what we have earnt from the CL this season.

The players will be having a holiday from the Day after the Fulham game until the week before the start of the tournament, with them probably then having a holiday from whenever we play our last game until probably the Monday before the community shield if we are not in it then i'd expect the club to throw in a friendly on that day.

Anyone bigging up this nothing competition is a lunatic.

None of broadcasters wanted to pay any money to show it, DAZN were gifted $1bn dollars by Saudi Arabia to pay FIFA for broadcasting rights and oh guess what, a week later the 2034 World Cup was awarded to Saudi Arabia.

It’s all bent as fuck, it means nothing, half the teams in it wouldn’t get out of the championship.

The extra football will ruin us next season, we’re not even playing in sky blue, it’s in fucking America, it’s not on free TV and the tickets cost about 5 grand.

Who gives a fuck.
Yep, agreed. Hopefully we treat these games like pre-season friendlies.

As long as players aren’t called up for the all important international games….

Fifa is the gold standard for corruption. This is there only chance to earn cash out of club football.

That alone is enough for me to lose interest.

There's too much money in football.

Bit like the Europa league then eh? But win it & you qualify for CL!! Ridiculous
I predict this world club cup will become massive

PL wouldn’t let us defer our first game next season in order to give players a rest after world club tournament but Spurs ask to change date of Villa match IN CASE they get to Europa league final - & it’s already been moved. Different rules for different clubs yet again

Has anyone mentioned …. you can drink beer while in your seat ! AND, in the case of Atlanta there are micro brewery options other than the usual American flavored water type beer.

In fact, for those in the cheap seats at Atlanta(“miles from the pitch”) there are open plan bars that you can drink at, on the 2nd level, with great views of the pitch (first come first served)

Surely this is reason alone to support this tournament [emoji23]
Can’t wait for it. I don’t think I’d be particularly looking forward to the competition if I wasn’t going. But stuff like this is making me look forward to it. Drinking in your seat, imagine that!
