Club World Cup - Summer 2025

If I hear there’s one single game as good and intense as this Barca Inter game in the CWC, I’ll hold my hands up.

Gonna look like friendlies compared to this.

I'm looking forward to this tournament now.
Although the team have been flogged for a few years now, if we weren't in it we'd be flying off to the arse end of China for a meaningless money grab tour.
At least the team have something to play for here with a big chunk of change to earn.
Correct, united flying out straight after the seasons end on some crappy £££ tour.
I cant wait to be in Philly for Citys first game.

Funny how a few good results can completely change your mind on this - I thought we had no chance in this but now I'm thinking we've got a good chance of winning it.

The calibre of players coming back from long term injuries in the next few weeks who should be able to perform with fresh legs and fresh minds is better than anyone else I can think of in the tournament - granted, it's probably asking a lot to think Akanji, Stones, Ake, Rodri, Bobb and Haaland would all be available but if they are that's 6 players that could be starters.

I’m jinxing it but looks like we might have a fully fit squad for this too

When you look at the PSG that rocked up to Arsenal in the league phase of the CL this season and the team they are now, there's every chance we can win the CWC. We're looking much better and Rodri will likely feature at some stage in the CWC which instantly makes us a force.

Whilst it's not viewed positively here at the moment, time always changes perceptions of trophies. The FA Cup used to be much more prestigious than it is now. Winning the Europa and Conference League seem to bring a lot more plaudits than they would have once. Give it 20 years and I'm certain the CWC will be viewed as one of the most prestigious titles given it's the elite of the globe and not open to 4 teams of varying ability from each league like the CL is.

Does anyone know size of squads for World Cup. I have searched the net but can’t find the answer.

Undeniably. But a bit like the early days of the World Cup or European Cup where the competition was very different, time doesn't remember those things. Uruguay have won the World Cup twice. Each time only 13 teams entered and their second win they played one group game and then won the second group stage, topping the table to win the tournament. That's not important now!

Cannot understand negative approach from some to this tournament. If the rags, dippers or ars were in it they would love it and their pals in the media would be all over it, christ look how the hype up the Thursday night cup when them lot are in it. Would be great to see City win it and get a trophy others are not good enough to be in with a chance to win.

Any of our US based Blues know much about MLS?
Is this game set in stone or could it be moved do you know?
Any tips from US Blues on a good place to stay in or around New York that would be good for Yankee stadium, less expensive? Needs to be safe as Mrs is with me so I've already ruled out Haarlem. ;)

If you're wanting to make a full NYC trip out of it, I would recommend just staying in Manhattan and taking the subway to yankee stadium, probably 30-45 min. My gf and I stay at LUMA hotel which is a cpl blocks away from Times Square, so if you want to see some of the touristy sights and/or a broadway show, you're very close. But even if not, it would be a good hotel for this since there's a line at Bryant Park that goes up to the stadium, it wld be like a 3 min walk from the hotel.
