Each to their own. The horse had bolted on prices 12 years ago when Arsenal charged us £62 and it still sold out quick - and people thought buying the tickets and holding a sheet up, accepting the prices by paying them but "protesting" was the way. When it is a high demand game fans pay anything.

We took a lower than normal allocation for that Arsenal game. And the publicity over the £62 ticket price at that match kicked off the FSF’s TwentysPlenty campaign for lower priced PL away tickets. While we didn’t get it down to £20, we got it down to £30 so yes, despite fans paying £62 that day it still eventually led to cheaper tickets.

That’s just one example of demolishing the argument that turning up at a match to protest against ticket prices when fans have already forked out for a ticket for said match achieves nothing. The recent protests against our own club are another example that fan activism works.

There's a chance a few more get added - returns from hospitality, fans, etc. OSC members/1894 singing section sign-ups not taking up the option to buy tickets. So there's potential that a few hundred or so more could be added back on at some point.

Agree that the new criteria is somewhat convoluted. I can only guess that the club have done the maths and deduced that a fair chunk of fans fall into each of the three categories and that they expect it to sell out by the end of the day. Time will tell I suppose
 
Just had a look at that Palace forum and there's loads of in-fighting about their sales process. Long-standing season ticket holders being slated by members for wanting an exclusive sales window for ST holders rather than having to log on at the same time as certain members and spending hours trying to get on the planner. Obviously I don't know the ins and outs of their loyalty points programme but one fan is saying that he's been a season ticket holder for years and mucked in with helping out cleaning the seats in the stadium in 2010 - presumably when they went into administration - and that seemingly counts for nothing when it comes to this game. I don't think that's an unreasonable request for ST holders to be given some priority because like others have said, Palace probably have around 18000 ST holders tops and even if every single one of those ST holders buys a ticket, that still leaves over 15000 with the additional allocation both clubs have received from the FA.

Another poster is saying that he's been a ST holder for over 40 years but only just managed to bag a ticket!

It's not just the volume of fans they need to consider it's also the liklihood of them buying a ticket. Members attending fa cup games will mostly be local fans with kids I'm guessing. Will they be willing to pay £175-285 for a ticket with a week to sort out transport, hotels etc. I'm not so sure.

My gut feel is they won’t sell as many as they think today and that those level 2 seats won’t sell. I think they should have made them available to all members today and got them all sold before weekend so people can make plans.

From the CPFC website, "We strongly advise supporters to join the Waiting List when their phase opens, in the event that we receive more tickets from Wembley in the coming days."

Maybe. I think a week is enough from an organisational point of view it’s more if people have the dosh for the more expensive tickets. Presumably Palace have sold their expensive ones but then they don’t have as much travel expense.

I’d guess at least half of the 4,000 will go today and the rest in the next few days.

I wonder if the KDB banner thing is done.

Many of the fans at the semi-final were match-day fans so I think the L1 and L5 seats will continue to sell rapidly and if there any left over then widen the criteria. We aren't going to lose any sales by being fair.

Agreed. Maybe have one or two FA Cup windows beforehand if they specifically want to reward that and then open it up to all members with some purchasing history later on today.

Think it's counter productive having loads of windows and then waiting for more criteria to drop. I'm pretty sure members have had a bite of the cherry in previous FA Cup finals so I don't know why the initial member criteria can't be announced at the start. Some members might see that initial criteria and think they've no chance so don't even bother monitoring how the sales are progressing.

You could be right mate. My own thinking is that although those L2 seats are a hard sell at those prices, a lot of members went to the trouble of attending the semi-final and will be desperate to go to the final so may well be prepared to pay for a L2 seat

Personally I wouldn't pay £255 or £285 for a ticket but then I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where I have a choice of all price categories. I did almost cough up for 2 Lady Gaga tickets at £225 a pop the other week because that's all that was available and the only thing that stopped me was that they were Mastercard seats and I only had a Visa card on me to pay for them so it got rejected!

They didn't last year, but have most years yes
 
Surely the fairest way to allocate tickets is for the first window to be for long-term season card holders, on all the cup schemes, with a 250 mile round trip for every home game, with the initials NN, between the ages of 64 and 66 and a Scorpio starsign. I'd complain like fuck if I wasn't out of the country anyway.
 
If you’re a member and decided you want to go, you’ve probably already tried to get tickets via other avenues, with the more expensive tickets as plan B. Nobody wants to pay those prices but your mindset is one of wanting to go. There’s also a new generation of young City fans from all over the country, whose parents probably support other clubs or are not even into football, who will really want to go to this game
