Mansour can`t subsidze fees & wages like in the past & i can remember there was/is fan outrage about the ticket pricing...fans should care if we pay expensive fees for average players especially if they are from the uk..our academy is good enough to produce squad players

By building a side Inter have knocked 2 of these sides with much higher turnovers out of the CL. They've stumbled in Serie A, where Italy has the 2nd highest UEFA coefficient after England, in recent weeks but are still only 3 points behind Napoli.

And generally the process is build a side to win your domestic league which then evolves, adapts and gains experience before making a real challenge to win the CL.

If you put a team together which had Eze, Wharton, MGW, Mateta, Cunha, Murillo, Aina, Hudson-Odoi, Munoz, Bowen and Kudus etc it would be a pretty decent team. The trick is to buy the players who are hungry and want success and you can bet anything these players would jump at the chance to play at City.

I think he would be a good signing, I'm not paying the money so I don't care about it but he would improve our midfield as it stands.

Wouldn't come close to winning the league though.

Its a good job Madrid haven't won 6 of the last 11 UCLs otherwise your argument could be seen as specious.

My point was a general one on recruitment. Virtually all our recent signings have been less well known than Rodri and Dias both of whom had played Champions league football, International football and played for prominent teams.
Sane was capped for Germany and generally reckoned to be about the hottest young talent in the Bundesleague.
We have generally signed very good players, we have made the odd mistakes.
Personally I have no very strong opinion on MGW either way but it's nonsense to suggest we don't have a decent record on signings, though I suspect that the market is a bit more competitive than it was when we were recruiting in greater numbers.

You didn't know who Rodri and Dias were when we signed them. Relatively unknown

They were both touted well in advance of being signed.

Which is neither here nor there to my general point that taken in the totality we have generally made good signings with a couple of mistakes.

No they weren't haha. Dias - we were linked to every CB under the sun and he came out of nowhere. Why rewrite history when it's all there to see.

Rodri had started 2 games for Spain and only been with Atletico for one season. They were relatively unknown.

Obviously there's links towards the end. Jack is briefed by the club. We looked at the lad from Napoli that ended up at Chelsea for months and another lad. Dias signing came out of nowhere

Yep, definitely, and everyone was disappointed because we'd been linked to the likes of Koulibaly if I remember rightly, but ended up signing this nobody last minute. And thank god we did.

I remember some fans certainly weren't happy when we were on the verge of signing Dias after we were first linked to Koulibaly and Kounde.
 
He's a good player at 40/50m or so. If we spend 100m on him that limits what we can spend on a proper creative midfielder so it's a no from me.

He idolises Cruyff, has his shirt number and dreamt of playing there. They both love the city and want to have another kid there. He might move but i doubt it.
