A bit harsh to this young lad as a KDB,Foden and Haaland didnt shine either. Im still convinced he will help us if we get back on our form. He isnt a individual player who makes the difference but will be a very useful as a squad player who works his a** off for the team.

We’re a bit past the days of just wanting someone in our squad who works his arse off. Sounds like when we had Paul Dickov, his range of passing was about as good as Rico’s too

Well I take one of our own who works hard and plays with passion for this team instead of a new signing 50m+ who only wants to smell „Big Club feeling“ on the bench.

he‘s only 20 and has much more to improve but I think to expect consistency all day is what no one brings this Season even the much more experienced and naturally more gifted Players are a up and down this year.

I wouldnt write him off because of his age and the crysis we are in now.

he needs to lock down a proper positions but RB and inverted RB is not that. inverted fullback only looks good anyway if the team functions working well but they arent at all. we dont need to create midfield advantage when all midfielders sit on their own box from opposite team...

Agree it should be where he played him in the semi final or not at all

Ah Rico Lewis: small stature, slow mind.

Before Citizens flame me...
In spite of the inflammatory one-liner in my post above...

In terms of personality, I've nothing against Lewis - he seems to be a likeably bloke.

In terms of talent, I think that Rico has tremendous football talent - anyone in our squad is one of the best footballers in the world.

That said - Rico does not have enough talent to warrant a role in any P/L side hoping to challenge for the title.

Why did I post this controversial one-liner about Lewis in the first place?

It's because whenever Lewis has the occasional good/great performance - posters on this forum leap to his defense, forgetting numerous games he's played in the exact same position, and in which he's been horrible.

Occasionally, due to luck, some substandard player will have a great game.

And so my OP: small stature, slow mind.

Lewis needs to be sold - godspeed Lewis in your next club.

Nothing against him yesterday because he shouldn't have been playing in the first place.

No point him being the width and tasked with whipping the ball in and stretching a backline, nobody is going to worry about marking him out wide.

Stupid decision, he offered what he always does in that position and we knew that would be the case.

And to illustrate my post above...

Southampton turns the ball over, Rico reovers. Awesome! We might be able to break their parked bus now that they're out of position.

And better yet, KDB, is open to Rico's right. It's an obvious pass to a better open player to increase our advantage.

What does Rico do?... Obviously the expected - he doesn't pass to KDB.

Which illustrates this - Rico can't read the game - on defense or on offense.

Cheers...

And yet, Rico was played.

Some of the fault is on Pep for trusting Rico in the first place - but most of the blame must accrue to Rico - another, predictably shit performance for a likeable and gifted player - who has no business whatsoever being in our squad.

But we know what he offers, very little.

Why should that have been different yesterday?

I'm not going to build a house with paper when I know it'll be shit and then blame the paper

More criticism in here than for one of the biggest earners in Europe, Haaland. Lmao.

At least Rico runs like he want's to be out on the pitch, for fucks sake.

I'm not sure what he did worse than Gvardiol at the other fullback position yesterday, either.

And rightly so more criticism.
'Rightly more criticism' for a natural midfielder, who's playing rightback, in a game where we didn't concede a single shot on goal, versus the 'world class' striker who had THREE touches in the first half?!

Lmao. You're touched in the head. If Haaland were an academy player like Lewis, 90% of you lot would be saying to bin him off and that he was a one-season wonder, etc., etc.

The bit you are missing is that Haaland plays good a lot & scores A lot of goals, Rico rarely has a good game hence the criticism being more worthy. Did you miss the bits yesterday where Haaland set up 2 goals but Savinho messed both assists up? The first one when Haaland pulled the ball across the box Savinho should have held back incase Nico missed the ball & he would have had a tap in but he followed Nico instead, the second one was one of the best knock downs you will ever see to Kovacic who was about to score until Savinho ruined it.

Haaland has a low amount of touches because of Peps tactics its not Haaland, how can you not see this?

But to say a right back deserves more criticism than our striker in a game where we scored zero goals and conceded nothing is complete lunacy and reeks of some vendetta you have.

Whatever. It's clear your bar of expectations for a "world-class" player is a lot lower than mine, so I'll leave it at that.

I don't know if he is likeable. Comes across as arrogant constantly pointing fingers, and not running back much. Some defend him only because he is from the academy. I personally don't care where the player is from, it's all about performances. I would much rather play someone like Khusanov because he shows every time how much he wants it in his performances.

He gave the ball away 3 times under no pressure yesterday, thats usually 3 times too many for pep. we were playing a team who are one of the worst of all time where he was under no pressure. That should be last chance saloon now for him i would think. If hes in the squad next season as anything more than 25th man then we are in trouble.

Vendetta? Grow up.

However, could the same not be said about you towards Haaland? Calm down.
