Tijjani Reijnders

We do also need creativity though surely. I've not watched Reijnders really but that midfield and Foden, Haaland, Marmoush where is the creativity?
If we land MGW from forest that’ll be a creative signing. I also put my faith in Foden to return to form. Oscar Bobb coming back with a full pre season. We have the opportunity to take a look at Echeverri. Also it looks like we’re going back to having traditional wide full backs which we change the way we play slightly.

Two hard working eights is something Klopps dippers would have? Pep might be moving away from technical midfielders to high work rate midfielders that can score.

I think we have recognised football has gone more physical/athletic now

Pep eluded to it in the press conference we need players who can play 3 times a week and who are more physical

Look at PSG they have best of both worlds a team who are technical and physical.

Agree on the physical/athletic aspect, but not sure I'd use PSG as the example. Arsenal quite comfortably won the xG battle against them, and certainly bullied them around at times. Our treble team would decimate this PSG team.

But yes, the athletic freaks are all the rage these days.

Would be a fantastic signing, this. Hope we’re genuinely interested (what’s McGrath like?) and it’s not just an easy connection being made.

Telegraph is a half-serious publication (if such thing exists anymore), don't just pull transfer stories out of their arse every five minutes like the red tops do so would like to think there's come credence to it. It's one thing making him a top target mind it's an entirely different thing playing ball with an Italian club on transfers.

Hopefully this is legit
It is legit.

I was telling @Gaz (FMwkdsoul) just last week that we had already submitted a bid for Reijnders—which was rejected. Milan made it clear they want a better offer. The important part? The player is open to the move. He’s not pushing for it out of respect for Milan, but there’s a willingness there if the clubs can agree on terms. It’s now up to us to decide whether we step up and match Milan’s valuation or walk away. The door is open—City just needs to choose whether or not to walk through it.

@richards30 — Are these your words? “I wish, but sadly I’m sure it’s untrue.” I am calling you out to come outside and explain yourself. ;)

Sounds positive.

How do you know this mate?

Or its a much bigger turnover of sales than first expected.

KDB, Gundo, Benire, Kov, McAtee, Grealish, Nunes could all easily be off this summer.
I wouldn't be averse to all of those leaving (plus a few CBs) but very much doubt we'll see more than 3 or 4 of those leave.

Yes for all the rumours of players we want it's entirely dependent on who leaves and from that list I'd say 4 from that list plus Walker, Phillips and Ederson. Which would make it hard for more than 3 or 4 in.

This is coming from the same source who gave me the early heads-up about Wirtz. That said—as we all know—transfers are incredibly volatile. Circumstances can change overnight, and until we hear it from the club’s mouthpiece or get that definitive “Here we go,” nothing is guaranteed. Everything outside of that should be viewed as hopeful speculation, not confirmation. Optimism is good—essential, even—but we need to stay grounded until the real signals come through.

I genuinely hope we land both Wirtz and Reijnders. That would be a real statement of intent—a double injection of technical brilliance and tactical intelligence right into the heart of our midfield. But hope doesn’t get deals over the line—action does. The club needs to follow through with clarity and conviction and they seem to be from these leaks. As I said, Reijnders is willing and ready—the fee is the only obstacle City has to meet their valuation, and Milan have made their position clear. As for Wirtz, I hope he's on board too, because securing them both would show we’re not just watching talent—we’re going out and getting it.

Dream signing for me this lad.

Him and Rodri together in a midfield would be incredible.

I won’t get to excited till it’s done but he’s a game changer for us this transfer window.

Would be a dream to secure both of them, but with the Wirtz/Bayern media circus this week, I wonder if Reijnders is us getting our alternative lined up.

With MGW seemingly inevitable, I’d be surprised if we brought in another 2 midfielders.

I suspect that the idea is for 2 of the 3 (if we're lucky). I'd be happy with that.

A totally acceptable alternative to Wirtz.

In fact, I can't really think of many others.

He and MGW drastically reduces the squad age, and sort of make sense as the KdB and Gundogan replacements.

I was made to belive that they are both targets but I also thought, one could possibly be a stand in for the other, especially with MGW links. Which is why this transfer window has me feeling so uneasy—we need to get it right. Both Reijnders and Wirtz are crucial for the 8 and 10 roles. Unfortunately, we also have to consider the homegrown rule. I’m hoping City can meet that quota by bringing in talent from positions other than midfield.

Doesn't he play the same position as Nico Gonzalez? It makes it more surprising we went for Gonzalez if Reijnders was a target and we have Kovacic who has been one of our best players this season.
