Liam Delap

Day 1 - tell ipswich we are activating the buy back clause.
Day 2 - sign him
Day 3 - tell him we are selling him to a club of our choice who can pay back the £30m fee.
Clubs don't do that and we certainly won't.
We are not that unprofessional.
If that was the case, we'd be doing it for every player that we have buy backs with.

United haven't wanted to buy any of the other players we have a buy back with

Breakout season? A whole 12 goals, 2 assists in 35 appearances. I saw enough here to see that he was never good enough even as a backup so ideal for the raggies. Hope Ipswich take them to the cleaners for him.
Very respectable numbers playing for a team thats been relegated in his first premier league season. Ipswich wont take them to the cleaners as he has a £30mil release clause!! City will get a 20% sell on fee though!!

will it 20% of the profit they make over the £20m they gave us for him rather than 20% of the figure the receive from the buyer. ?

Said in a previous thread just yesterday we need to start being more clever with selling youth. Add in a clause that states if thr buying club sell him to certain rival clubs then that 20% sell on jumps to 50%.

If they're selling him for £30m and we are pocketing £6m, they're getting £24m. with the proposed clause above they'd have to sell him for £50m to a united/dippers or whoever we name to get the same amount and then we are pocketing a pretty hefty £25m ourselves instead of a fairly inconsequential £6m. It's still not an entirely unrealistic figure for the buying club and we get a much better deal.

As it is we're losing too much money on these players and seeing rivals picking them up for good prices. Got to be better in that department. Hopefully Viana identifies it.

Ipswich won't get too much out of this deal.
Remember they already have given us roughly £20m already.
We are getting that £20m plus our sell on fee.

Doubt he would be interested in coming to be a back-up, especially when he seemingly has other options.

The problem is that everyone knows Pep will never play Haaland and Delap together. If Haaland is fit all season, his backup might get <10 starts.

If there was a manager who sometimes played 442 or 352 and there was some chance of them both playing then we might be able to get him back as an understudy/partner but not with Pep.

Isn't Delap's agent best mates with Wilcox? Surprised Wilcox has a job still, by all accounts no one knows what he does at the Rags

Not arsed if he goes to to rags
They are on their arse
Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern and Real Madrid ain’t looking at delap now are they
