Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Is this the wrong thread to mention Southampton (away) ?

Just askin'

No, and he served it up again, the previous 8 or nine games of solid results, lots of clean sheets was thrown away to give players their places back instantly, we have been like the band doing the tour for one last pay day.

Come on mate, we were slow, ponderous and incredibly wasteful and failed to pull the trigger again at the right time over and over again. They had 1 chance in that first half and put it away. Yes, we had more chances and more possession but if I was playing against us I’d let us have that too because we continue to do absolutely fuck all with it.
Winning the FA Cup final with 22% possession and 2 shots must be the norm now in football.
Please forgive me i'm from a different era

when we had the Arsenal game at Etihad with them having the red card ad Arteta parked the box all 2nd half we had same issues it was always Dias and Akanji with the ball other further forward waiting for these two to do something. what a joke. we couldnt beat them even with them with 10 players. it got that bad Dias had to try long shots and was like 20 yards far from being on target.
thats when Rodri got his bad injury and when Haaland had the stay humble shit...

sadly Pep think the way to et these opponents is to try the same thing and not let them sit back so deep by moving the ball much quicker and earlier. we hd a chance to break vs Palace in 85th minute maybe when they came forward with 3-4 players got close to corner area where one of them dived and we could break from it and guess what we slowed it down, waited for them to get back in place those 3-4 players and then few more side passes and back to same thing tht dias and Akanji passing to each other on Palace half with 11 players all front of them blocking most passing lanes and cross chances.

again what happened is what Glasner wanted our least creative players on the ball the most who is unlikely to do any damage ever.

No, the point of a long contract is that it's means the chances of anybody being able to afford to buy him out of it is virtually non-existent.

It also means that if he continues to bang in 20-30 a season of more, with inflation over the years it's going to look like a bargain. As for hunger, I don't think I've ever seen another City player cheer as much from the bench when we score, or on the pitch if another player scores or is as annoyed or angry when we lose.

He's a flat track bully who's been in most defender's pockets this season. Slow, cumbersome, and overpaid.

Imagine for a moment this is a Formula 1 team. You have a car and you need 11 top class components to stand a chance of winning the next race, engine, brakes, steering, tyres, exhaust and so on. And you'll need those components every time you race to stand a chance of winning the title.

Now imagine your brakes are fucked very early into the season. You have replacements but they're not quite as good. Your steering rack goes, again you have a replacement but again it's not quite as precise, not quite up to the same standard. You lose the race.

As the season goes on you're doing what you can with the parts you have, but they're not quite the same as your first choice combination of 11 top parts so you still win enough to be up near the top but you're more vulnerable, you lose more than you normally would.

Perfectly understandable, right? You put cheaper tyres on your car then find the grip's not quite the same in the wet, but it's what you expected.

So why the fuck can't you work out what happens when that car is a football team and those key parts are your top players? Because that's all that has happened this season, yet you're incapable of working that out.

So have you worked out yet why you're not the one who knows best, the one who will be leading a team out at Wembley any time soon, or lifting a PL or CL trophy any time in the near future. Or ever. Or do you want me to explain it to you?
“Now imagine”..It’s been a shit day at the football & you’re in a bad mood & then you have to read about 100 posts from a know it all arse like Coolcity

Possession means nothing if you do nothing with it. We could spend the entire game kicking around in rondos and not score.

Likewise, Palace showed what could be achieved with a fast transition. Something we've lacked for many years,

Always thought you were better than this. Not really sure what you expected to change behind the scenes from last week to this regardless of whatever issues you might think there is.
You have to admit it that this has been a woeful season from players and manager alike. I'm absolutely convinced something has happened that we're not aware of that has contrived to this huge downturn in form. Maybe more players know they're on their way out like Kev and this has caused some friction

To be fair it was a bloody good save by Henderson, but at the same time there's an amount of good fortune in it, they have to guess the right way and it's sheer luck whether they do or not. Not making excuses but there was a hell of a long wait before the penalty was taken, I always think that favours the keeper. First time in a Wembley final for Marmoush too.

There’s was a huge delay even after VAR had finished its check. Atwell delayed his whistle for an age. Puts enormous pressure on the taker.

I mean, he’d be getting shit if he dropped Haaland, but some of his lineups this year have been maddening to say the least.

Still not over shoehorning an out of form Sterling into the CL final and not playing a defensive midfielder.

Didn't clearly see the Henderson handball live and wasn't sure what was going on and most of the half time focus around me was the penalty. Just watched it now and it is fucking shocking, Attwell has got away with too many already with us and this needs to be the last.
My post on 30th April when I knew he had the game..
Literally rewrote the definition of “ interfering with play” in front of our eyes that day, bent as fuck .
He has done us over when on VAR duty on numerical occasions.
The very worst , Howard Webbs go to man if he needs shit doing
The **** is shameless and he gets away with it because we let him !
My post 25th November 2023
Attwell in VAR! The man who re-wrote the offside rule for Utd against us in front of our own fucking eyes - how many times is this **** gonna be allowed to fuck us over ?? I know he doesn’t do it but Pep needs to call this fucker out - Klopp would do it !
Pep belatedly needs to open his mouth and call this fucker out, no more!
No good complaining to Henderson - fucking stupid thing to do.

It's painful, City was shocking

but how can the VAR officials give a pen for United in the final we beat them in, Because Grealish brushed the ball with his fingernails, then not send the keeper off today for handling the ball a yard outside the box
Well, there are a couple of options:
1) They are corrupt
2) they are incompetent
3) See 1) or 2) above.
I can accept Atwell missing it as it was a result of a long ball forward, but why the hell wasn't he asked to look at the monitor? I know they didn't want him to change his mind, but surely he deserved to see the evidence.

One season like this in nine years is remarkable - the guys are human and not robotic. It's taken quite a few years for us to have a trophyless season - incredible.
Absolutely 100% spot on. I find it completely astonishing that a very large number of people on here think the team can play so many matches year in year out, on top of all the internationals they have played, then expect the same results from a squad that has been decimated by injuries to an extent that personally cannot remember why major club having had ever, and yet somehow still expect the same results.

But then these are the same people who cannot figure out why they're not the ones who are not leading out a team at Wembley or lifting the PL trophy, despite the fact that they think they know better than the coaching staff that consistently do just that.

You can set off at 7.30am, you can down cans on the train and dance and sing on the tube before shouting your head off as a Tifo is unveiled..... but sadly you know it's all wasted because you know that the opposition will have one break away attack, rip through your midfield before ignoring your defenders to slam the ball into the net, you know that because that's what's happened all season.

But hey, you can always blame the ref.

It makes you feel better

I'm not going to broadcast it on here, but once the fans know, they'll regret the criticism of him.
Yep they will. I'm aware of his health issue as well and it's not something you can easily play through. People need to lay off and give the lad a bit of time
