Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Pep is a genius and thanks for everything, but boy, you’ve not half fucked last 2 games. Tinkering like a twat! Own your mistakes, we were wank! Well done Palace.

Stayed up till stupid o'clock watching that. Just got up from 5 hours sleep feel like shit :(
Absolutely gutted we lost, I'm grateful to Pep for getting us to another final but surely this loss puts the last nail in the possession football coffin ?

Another game when all that possession mattered for nothing. How many times have we lost in this way. Lesser teams have worked out how to beat us.

If Pep stays he surely must change his tactics.

Tough game against a team who wanted it like their lives depended on it. We just couldn’t break them down.

That’s on the management team abive Pep (and maybe including him, but even when we were great and wining everything, he always maintained it wasn’t him and it was those above him were the reason we had the players we did), who’ve allowed the creativity of the squad to diminish for too long. We need new, younger, fresher, more spritely versions of De Bruyne, David Silva and Gündoğan around the ‘D’ of their opposition box and until we address that we will struggle to maintain an elite level.

In the meantime we have to get behind what we’ve got; and the vast vast majority of our ‘support’ at that stadium today were a fucking disgrace. Never felt less part of something good when it comes to our support.

Most refused to even join in with ‘come on City’ and just stood there moaning all game.
Chatting shit

Forgetting the Var,We are a shadow of ourselves.
Pep looks worn out which is worrying the club have a big descision get rid or risk what Arsenal did keeping Wenger too long. There is no room for sentiment in football. The rebuild we need is huge.
Would say we need to ship out at least 10 players. The strange thing for me weeks ago we told Kdb he was past it yet we still keep playing him.Bernado has been shite for 18 mths yet is still played nearly every week.Foden is turning into Deli Ali before our eyes time to get rid while we can still get a fee.In my 50 yrs of supporting this wonderful club i have seen some shite and some amazing things but one thing i can never forgive is a lack of effort.Players like Morrison,Horlock ,Dickov are highly thought of because although they had a fraction of the talent of our current lot they never gave up like some of them did today Haaland being the main culprit. My big fear forbthe next 2 games is that Pep will pick his favourites again and they aint bothered as they wont be here for the Europa league.
We have failed to strengthen since the treble and are in danger of doing what the scum have done.
I never thought i would say this but i dont give a fuck if Pep,Haaland and Foden are not here next year with about 10 others could suffer a couple of poor seasons if we were buying young hungry players for the future.

I was surprised he started with KDB and 2 wingers but I don't believe Pep is to blame. We don't have the players any more. KDB is too old, Foden is off form and Rodri is injured. That's our midfield wiped piut.

What do you want Pep to do? He's not a magician. He didn't miss the penalty. Sh't happens in Cup Finals.

Just got back from the game and I’ll be honest I’ve had few drinks. I’m not really gonna mention the game at all because I could be here all night. It’s just, I’ve only just seen the Henderson incident on TV and I was wondering if anyone can explain why or what the thinking was by VAR to not send him off, because it looks like a blatant red to me?
I can it was against City so nothing happens any other team and he gets a red card simple as that, about time it was called out by the club..

What do u do when you’re faced with two lines of 5 defending deep. U can shoot from distance but we’ll always have most possession when the opposition play like that and our shooting is terrible.

Some right miserable twats there today. Even I felt young.

Maybe he could have played Gonzalez, considering he spent £50m on him a few months ago? When the team was announced, did you think it looked a balanced team that would be able to cope on the transition or did you think he'd managed to make another random, mysterious team selection in a final?

Pep has adapted his football from Barca, to Bayern to us and has changed our style several times whilst he's been here. I've no idea why he therefore insists on a formation and style that appears to have been worked out by many opponents, even if the issue is only the personnel we've had available. He's managed previously losing left backs and strikers during seasons yet this season he's not been able to find a way and rarely seems to have tried something new. I think a big part of that is the coaching team around him - he's lost some good coaches over the time with us, but it's meant bringing in new people with new ideas. Something needs shaking up this summer.

I know what you mean but I've seen us score some cracking goals using route 1 tactics.
And we have the perfect CF for this and the perfect GK.
All this sideways passing has become tedious and boring.

We have to be more direct. Haaland must get pissed off waiting for a decent through ball all the pointless runs he makes.

Lesser teams know how to beat us now as proven many times like today.

Ever noticed in our warm ups they practice shots from roughly the edge? And they're finding the corners and rattling in off posts. Where's that in the game?
Where are the eight opponents in the area during the warm up?
We do need more shots from the edge of the box, but we need to take those shots early before the blockers arrive. Our ultra-slow build-up play means we're rarely given those opportunities.

I want him to not change a winning team a formation for no reason whatsoever after it being forced on him

You mean these last few games in which we are the only PL team to have not been beaten (last 6) until today, 4 of which we won?

With fans like you lot, if I was a City player right now I'd be saying fuck the lot of you and wouldn't give a toss whether I won the last 2 games or not.
We’ve just watched arguably the two worst performances we’ve seen under pep back to back and previous to that the performances against wolves, forest and Everton weren’t much better but we managed to scrape the results.

As a whole performances have been a million miles away from where we have been previously. Are you really saying we’ve seen the maximum from the manager and this set of players?

Just got in not read anything on here, but we were fucking shite. The world's greatest centre forward set the tone when he shit out of the penalty! Rubbish from start to finish never looked like scoring, lost a cup final to a load of shit who've never win anything ever. A new low .Pep out. Up the Blues. Ps we're the most boring watch ever.

Different game if Twatwell and VAR decided to apply the laws of the game instead of overriding it for the TV spectacle.
They bottled it. Didn’t want to ‘spoil the game’. Would he have been the first keeper to be red carded in the final? Can’t remember another. The direction the ball took is a red herring. The offence reviewed should not have been ‘was it denying a direct Goal scoring opportunity’, the offence reviewed should have been simply…. ‘Did Henderson deliberately handle the ball outside of his area’ and as he clearly did, it was an obvious, easy red card. However, for some bizarre reason they decided no offence was committed.
