Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Premier league clubs should be pulled from the League cup and have it for Championship to Division 2. It would be good competitive comp for non prem teams to go for and help the premier league clubs.

Not sure of our commercial obligations, and I know winning this comp brings a large windfall…..however we need to leave some players at home to recuperate, please give Phil, Gvardiol, Erling, Diaz, Ake, Bernardo, Akanji, Kova, Gundo etc the Sumer off. Play the young players and those who haven’t had too much gametime

Good idea but it won't be allowed

I agree

I think we could do without it really.

A break would be better so we can reset and get some new players in and come back fresh. Now I feel we are just going to carry our problems into this tournament and then into the season, with new faces coming in during that

The summer off? The international managers will be calling them up if they aren’t on this tour

So because 7 teams are in Europe do you think the other 13 are going to vote to quit the League Cup “to help the Premier League clubs?”

The domestic league worked all very well for donkeys years with the League and FA Cup plus endless replays plus a 24 team league.
The problem isn’t domestic cups. It’s the increase in European games - it used to be 9 games to win the EC. Now the CL is 15 or possibly 17 if a team has to go through a group stage play off.
International games since the break up of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia plus the introduction of the Faroes / Gibfuckingralter and other countries who get shafted 6-0 every game has increased the amount of games played. Tournaments have gone from 16 to 24 to now 32 teams - and now we have this world club cup tournament too. Something has to give, but not on the domestic front.
We’ve already seen the PL go to 20 teams and the cessation of replays in both domestic cups.

There are premier league clubs who realistically don't have a chance getting to or competing in Europe and only make up the numbers in the premier league itself treading water until they eventually sink.

The league cup is huge for them too, just look at the Geordies?

Yes something has to give.
Sure if the ESL ever gets off the ground then international games would get reduced.

Cant wait for this, only there 4 days but seeing 3 games. Might fly back for semi / final if we make it .

Players can have 3 weeks off iif we make the QFs and some of them have not exactly played a lot of gsmes this season.

So instead of going to the USA, they'll be picked to play for their country.
So the answer is take them but don’t play any of them
Use the group to test new plans tactics with the new signings plus academy players and get Rodri ready
Probably get through group stage
Then insult Madrid by playing same team minus Rodri

You thinking we’ll be 2nd in Group and play Madrid in Miami in last 16 ? [emoji16]

Funny how a few good results can completely change your mind on this - I thought we had no chance in this but now I'm thinking we've got a good chance of winning it.

The calibre of players coming back from long term injuries in the next few weeks who should be able to perform with fresh legs and fresh minds is better than anyone else I can think of in the tournament - granted, it's probably asking a lot to think Akanji, Stones, Ake, Rodri, Bobb and Haaland would all be available but if they are that's 6 players that could be starters.
^^^^ This guy is a fucking idiot

If I’m honest I’d like Pep to use the 3 group games to ease Rodri back and work with new signings and the few academy lads like Bobb O’Reilly etc to get them integral to his plans tactics for next season couldnt give a fuck if ended up losing them all as long as the trip has a long term benefit

Unfortunately, there is not a chance to win this tournament/trophy.....with such performance.... :(

Booked my flights to Philly
I know this has been asked before but can’t be arsed looking.
What section are we in and where do I buy tickets from?

Here are the local supporters club plans

Welcome party in Philadelphia on Tuesday (17th) evening at our supporters club bar, Tir Na Nog in Center City
Apparently it is Philly’s “most authentic Irish bar”

1600 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

located above Suburban Station in Cente City
It's also a block away from City Hall Subway, which is on both the Broad Street Line and the Market-Frankford Line

Yes I was thinking this, we have plenty of damn good players who have barely had a kick recently, plus the newbies etc .... could be very interesting to see how they get on?

Here’s my thoughts….

Get firing on all cylinders; Erling

Plenty of minutes left in; Sav, Claudio, Doku Nico O’ McAtee & Marmoush,

Need to bed in; Nico G

Ease back; Rodri & Bobb

Leave Foden out of it, even if he travels. Think he needs some time away.

Get Khusanov & Reis involved, early doors against the two weaker teams in our group.

This is a hell of set of very good players, certainly enough to put the first two group games to bed.

Defence and the older guys in midfield is where exhaustion is an issue and Pep will need to earn his corn managing the old guard with some of the newer boys.

Rotate and only play one of at a time; Gundo, Kova & Bernie. And probably don’t need any of them for the first two group games.

Finish top and we can have an easier last 16, probably FC Salzburg ! Finish 2nd and it’ll probably be Real Madrid !
