Looking at this thread I realize our fall off. When haaland doesn’t score we don’t score at all and if he doesn’t score „ we don’t play to his strength“

We don't play to his strengths, it is as simple as that, we used to, but don't now.

It'll be even worse when there is no KDB to play inch perfect balls through to him no more as well, pointless being on pitch and even more so if he's no balls to take a crucial penalty

But Haaland does take them. He was seen as a specialist penalty taker when he arrived, and usually approached them like a bull to a red rag.

Yaya and Balotelli wouldn't back out, ever. Neither would Francis Lee... he was probably spinning in his grave on Saturday.

Haaland seems to have lost all that swagger abd confidence in himself that made him a great scorer of outrageous goals

He absolutely bottled it in an FA cup final. I don't see why anyone would have the same confidence in him any more.
I wholeheartedly concur, absolute disgrace that he passed up that pen on Saturday.

I love him, but he needs to get his hunger back asap, looks to me like his levels have dropped off, new baby new contract etc.

we play worse with Haaland in the team tbh. His all round performances in big games is so bad sometimes it’s funny, it’s like watch Mketiah out there. The worst thing I’ve noticed about Haaland isn’t his technical ability, or link up play which is not at the level of a top tier player, we all know that , but his aerial ability, he’s so late to attack crosses. And he never gets a Drogba type connection on his headers, it’s like the timing of the leap is not right. Can we do a potential swap deal for Isak? Because outside of KDB who’s leaving, none of the players remaining in this team work well with him. Prime KDB and Haaland was a thing of beauty, but now, unfortunately, this lad is a big beeeg big problemmm

Still not ok.

He's making the most money, he's the star striker. The buck stops with him. It's his assignment to make that ball cross that line. He needs to figure it out, not delegate it.
Cometh the hour, cometh the man, he sh1t himself on Saturday and in doing so further reduced his iconic reputation.

If I'm being honest, bad personality aside, the reason why I wanted us to get Mbappe instead is because all these talk of "playing to his strengths" wouldn't have mattered as Mbappe is a typical Pep player, light footed, not exactly the same stature as Aguero but very similar play pattern and attacking instincts, good off the ball work and they can play across the front line and would have been a perfect false 9.

Pep never plays with a static target man, players like Haaland, Ibra Kane, Lewandoski, Osimehin are not Pep players, I think Pep was trying to counter that narrative by going all out for Haaland. Don't get me wrong, Haaland is the best 9 out there today but he's not the perfect fit for a Pep team.

Well his goals he has scored for us since arriving somewhat make a bit of a sad read what you have just put, he has scored a lot, the "playing to his strength" part is getting balls in the box, he's fucking huge and should overpower plenty of defenders our league has to offer, but if the ball doesn't come in from the wingers we have then what chance has he got.

Also he makes plenty of runs that don't get balls put through to him neither, and he gets pissed off quickly during a match.

But..... it's the playing to his strengths part that is in question for now

I'm not writing him off, he is the best 9 in the world, he's just not a Pep player, You look at the history of the players Pep got the best out of and you can easily see why Haaland isn't a Pep player. Asking the team to play to Haaland's strengths is basically asking Pep to adopt a different style of play, it's just not happening

I know what you mean, however, look at it this way, Haaland just signed a long term deal, Pep hasn't, so the future for Haaland isn't doomed just yet

I just fear we might have a Kane situation when Pep leaves. The team plays to his strengths, he scores loads of goals but collectively, the team just comes short of winning titles.

He doesnt play to his own strengths.
His runs are none existent , his movememt in the box is appalling and his attitude appears sulky

Well if he's not a Pep player it's certainly not going to be Haaland first out of the door... I'd be worried at how you think the club is run since he was signed under Pep and also given a 9 year contract under Peps management despite him not being a Pep player.

The fact is teams now have a blueprint how to set up and defend against us and Pep either refuses to or hasn't a clue how to combat it. If Southampton can shut us out so can anyone else in the league, it's up to Pep to evolve and find a way of playing to suit his players, not the other way around.

120 goals in 140 appearances playing for City and Pep. Erling Haaland and Pep aren't an issue for City.
Haaland was an issue on Saturday. Not taking the pen was an issue. No leadership in Pep to ensure that circus didn't happen was an issue. Haaland not getting service is an issue from Pep, Haaland playing crap is an issue.

Season ticket for 40+ years, that ok?

Sorry i wasnt sure there was a criteria for opinions

Gatekeeping weirdo

Wasn’t meant to be taken like that, so being as you are you will have fucking noticed the runs he makes regularly, unless your on the concourse

And for the record in your dick swinging contest so have I

You asked me if im a match goer , i replied i was.
No dick swinging.

Ill stick by that his movement in and around the box has become static

Quality reply on paddy power to someone complaining haaland has no service.....he's a striker not a fucking WiFi router!!
Jokes aside they have a point, I can't think of another striker that has been excused because the service to him wasn't up to his taste

Haaland was completely shot of confidence. He bottled the pen and then didn't lash in the rebound. From that position, to pass, screams of someone scared of the occasion. Which is bizarre for him.

It's worrying as well, because the game could have gone to penalties so you'd have thought they would have trained and talked about pens in the build up.
