This player looks completely finished. Honestly, no offense, but he can’t even control a simple pass without it bouncing five meters away from him. There’s zero creativity, nothing bold or risky in his game - just another Samir Nasri, a total passenger on the pitch. Horrible today.

Samir Nasri was a one game in three player, but he was never a passenger. Even on a 'bad' day, he could influence play positively, and he very rarely, if ever, gave the ball away.

Looking back at a midfield trio of David Silva, Yaya Toure, and Samir Nasri makes you realise just how average our current squad has been allowed to become.

Foden is about to turn 25…..Sterling peaked at that age and has struggled to hold down a first team spot anywhere since.

We are now not good enough to carry players who are virtually passengers.

Foden needs to turn it around pretty quickly because Pep cannot make the same mistake with the loyalty he has afforded some players this season.

How many excuses do people have ? From wrong position , Southgate, rice and Bellingham hate him and don’t pass him the ball , private problems, needs Rest, babymomma problems, media issues, auto immune disease ( which no one close ever mentioned so he is still always in the squad) to some guy called Webb being the reason.
What else ? The pope died too early and it hit Foden?
He is just playing like shit and has 1 move and if that move doesn’t work his whole game doesn’t work

Yh, it's too many excuses and he has been very well looked after. I keep telling people its a mental issue not physical, fitness or even motivation.

He doesn't have the capacity to be a key player within Peps playing style. Because of this he's lost his confidence this season and playing with fear. Has all the technical ability but lacks Silva and KDB footballing brain.

I suspect that he could and probably will. He'll be pinning all his hopes on Rodri hitting the ground running next season, but don't be surprised to see Gundogan alongside him rather than Nico.

Since 2018 Phil has played in 359 games Saka has played in 306.
Yamal has barely started
Why don't you eff and support someone else.
I support City not Foden.

2018 is a great year to start with considering Saka hadn't made a start. Since 2019, he's played almost 4000 more minutes and his only break from the first team has been when he's been seriously injured.

Foden has not been good enough and if we can't rely on him then there are questions about whether he should stay here long term.

No way on God's earth should we sell Foden. He is clearly exhausted physically and mentally. Just like Jac, scrub that, like all our players he has been kicked with impunity since that merchant banker Webb came back.
Spot on.
And the reason you give for Phils poor performances...,match that given by the player himself.
Burnout.
For those who actually listen to what our professional footballers say.....Look back at Rodrs wordsi last season and the start of this..... making it quite clear,.,that he,Rodri, the best midfielder in the world...was tired.

There is no mystery.
Foden Will be back.
Form is temporary Class is Permanent.

If he wasn't a local lad and didn't come through our academy I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't be making all the excuses for him under the sun.

It's been an awful season from him, it's as simple as that.

There was a moment in the last 5 minutes yesterday where he received it on the half way line with loads of space to counter in front of him and he was caught up and shoved to the side like a school boy. Quite sad to see actually.

Surely if he's weaker and slower than he used to be that makes it more likely he's not fully well, as opposed to taking his eye off the ball or downing tools?

Be interesting to see the reactions if Foden was the £100m signing Grealish was, and vice versa.

I loved Sammy he was mint, thought we got rid of him a year too soon. His goal in the League Cup final was class.

Bloody hell! For the last time (I hope), this is supposed to be elite level football. It's the FA cup final.

If a player is 'not fully well', what the f*ck is he doing on the bench in the first place?

If Phil's actually fit enough to be picked by Pep Guardiola to play, we can only conclude that he's genuinely fit. In which case, he was absolutely useless on Saturday, just like countless previous games he's played this season.

That being the case, we should ask "has Phil simply decided to down tools?"

If he wasn't from Stockport, most fans would be calling for him to be moved on. He's a very very lucky boy.

There was no way in a million years that Pep was going to tolerate Sammy for more than a minute, no matter how good he was.

Pep doesn't stand for strong personalities. He prefers players who don't talk back and always do what he says.... He's always been surrounded by 'yes men'.

Weirdly I think people would be much more defensive of Phil if he'd cost 100 million pounds and was coming off the back of an incredible season that saw him win POTS. City fans have always had a habit of tearing their own down going back decades.

You can actually see it in the respective player threads. Grealish seems to be beloved and can't put a foot wrong no matter how bad he's been for two seasons now, whereas Phil has some utter guff written about him because he's had a tormented season playing in a tormented team. In terms of 'credit in the bank' - Foden's got years of it.

With Barry or De Jong behind (sometimes both) to do the dirty work too

And also still bags of potential which seems to often be overlooked

Bukayo Saka has 15,079 minutes in the Premier League in his career

Phil Foden
17,739 in the Premier League
