That was a decent advert for the 4 day game guess. Pleasant day out and all that, but ultimately an underwhelming finish - though the Derbyshire supporters were very happy though.

Was a pleasure to see James Anderson’s liquid smooth action in person once again, but in retrospect, I reckon Lancashire’s undoing was their paltry rate of scoring in the first innings on day 1, when they were scoring at just over 2 an over and failed to build up a big enough score. On that pitch, they just didn’t give themselves enough time to get 10 wickets today.

Even with 4 days of fabulous weather and no time lost to rain, the draws continue …

That, and yet again, letting them knock 95 runs for the last 3 wickets in their 1st innings.

Lancs bowlers stuck well to the task but Derbys had some stout defenders. I thought Lancs looked keener and more enthusiastic than hitherto. A good game with plenty of tension near the end.

Lancs scoring rate on first day was too slow, 2 barely 3 an over. With max 4 days and 4 innings to get through, Lancs batsmen needed to be on it from minute one, can't hang about prodding the ball around over after over taking time out of the game. Lancs yet again ran out of time and overs.
At least moving Wells back up to opening was a positive move. Despite poor first day a good game.
Just need to be more dynamic in coming games. Might be more helpful playing away now and at out grounds, OT is a flat wicket and doesn't help.

OT pitch was lifeless for most of the match. They need to liven it up.

Might be controversial but I think they should dig the square up and start again. The wickets they play on are a bit too much batsman friendly for 4 day cricket. Crickets a much better spectacle when it's a fair contest between bat and ball for me.

Apparently OT have a commitment with the ECB for test cricket that requires a track such the current one. One that will help the game last 5 days. Tests that last only 3/4 days bad for business.

I'm no groundskeeping expert but couldn't they flatten it out for the one test a year (or fewer than) where England come to town? The rest of the time have it set up for 4 day cricket?
