The gap isn't huge it's just that we underperformed, I doubt we will get another season like this season for a while.
The last time we were this apathetic was when Leicester won the league and we all know what happened after that.
Our head coach resigned and the following season we qualified for the Champions league 3 points ahead of 5th place

On the contrary,, a different pov.. they've won the domestic league in the only season when everyone else is poor. In Europe they came up short against a poor RM.
They've bought no one of note last couple of seasons and their main stars have either left or are ageing.
Their new manager hasn't actually managed the club properly, he is using Klopps team and inspiration that City are poor this year.
Their owners lean more towards being leaches rather than investors, they don't like spending so let's see what they spend and how much they back a manager they don't yet know about. It was OK under klopp he had the tools to make up for the lack of investment, we will see with slot.
We are going to be better next year undoubtedly, I think Liverpool are heading for the season we have just had.

I dunno

I think they're adding to an already good team. I don't think Trent or Robertson will be huge misses.

Clutching at straws, you could say Salah and VVD are getting on, but it looks like there's still enough in the tank for at least another season. It's certainly not like watching KDB and Gundo run through treacle.

Easy to say the manager inherited Klopp's team but he didn't inherit champs did he? He made them into champs. No easy feat following a legend like Klopp, a guy who went toe to toe with Pep.

They're not going to fade badly next season. It's on us to be far better. Liverpool have assembled a very very solid squad and bought well since their midfield with the likes of Hendo were past it. Something we didn't do.

They've got stronger and we've let our team run it's course and not replaced properly.

Wishful thinking to think they'll just go away, they're a serious outfit. Good depth to the squad and a real fortress of a home ground, especially when the Kop gets going.

Time for pep and co. to show what they're all about because we're miles off these lot right now and will be again if we don't sort it out.

You Messaging your scouse mates telling them you’re having fun winding up city fans? Pathetic really.

“Hendo”! Fuck off!
“when the Kop gets going” ! Fucking hell!!

Liverpool's defensive play at Brighton was abject. Bradley and Konate looked particularly vulnerable.

I think Liverpool have made a major mistake in retaining Salah and Van Dijk. Both have lost basic speed and logically you would expect their game to deteriorate next season. Liverpool do not appear to have replacements for these players.
Judging them off the Brighton game is a tad short sighted as it looks like they gave up after winning the league.

But I've said the same earlier in the thread about Salah and Van Dijk; the only reason they've signed again is so Liverpool can get a fee for them next summer.

I too think it'll backfire.

I expect agreements made in early 2026 for either or both to PSG or Bayern for the 26/27 season

I was commenting on their performance vs BHA ("Liverpool's defensive play at Brighton was abject..."). It was.

The most important thing for a football club is to be successful on the pitch. Van Dijk and Salah will almost certainly be weaker players next season given their age. You can already see a dip in their speed, a key attribute. See Kyle Walker. He went from being one of the best full backs in the European game to an average player in 1 year.
