Trams tonight

We should have played another night, Wednesday was out due to UEFA ....or was it? but, we should have played this if that's the case on Thursday.
Yes 2 days before fulham away to qualify for the champions league.
We really have some bright sparks amongst our fan base
Has it really had a adverse effect on your life.

The whole thing is an utter disgrace to be honest. The queue for the tram was all the way to where the Vincent Kompany statue is. The orange car park is like wacky racers, I have seen several full on fights in there this season because of how disorganised it is.

To put concerts on the same days as a game is two fingers up to the fans. No wonder lots leave on 80 mins and until they actually sort a proper exit strategy the ground will always be half empty come 90 mins. Those running the operations in and around the ground are clueless.
I don't know why hundred of fans queue up to travel back to the city centre when walking beats the 2nd/3rd trams back. Especially on a beautiful Summer night. It's actually nice to walk. I think that always when I see a packed tram go by.

Agreed. If more walked back it would mean the fans who actually need to use the tram for mobility reasons weren't waiting so long too.

The main issue at play though is the fact that you get 1 single tram every 15 minutes. If that was any other major City in Europe, you'd be getting a double every 2 or 3 mins until it had been cleared.

And surely most regulars who need the tram have the metrolink season ticket so get Fast Pass anyway.

Hopefully when the new City Square is up and running things will be a bit easier because everyone is leaving the campus at the same time at the moment. I doubt we’ll see better trams for a few years yet, and in any case the pedestrian traffic up Merrill Street stuffs any decent service BECAUSE of the pedestrians. Catch 22 there.

As City fans we are well used to the awful roads and public transport options away from the ground at the end but I do wonder how many people attended their first concert at the arena last night and are currently vowing it will be their last. I noticed as we were walking down Mercer Way people were coming out of there and being directed to walk all the way round the building to get to the tram stop instead of up the slope. By the time they'd done that the queue for the trams must have been horrendous.

In my experience it was nowhere near as bad as I'd feared. We stayed right to the end of the proceedings at the match and decided to walk into town. Two or three trams passed us and none of them looked to completely full. So when we got to New Islington we got on the next tram which was busy, but again not completely full.

I reckon they’ll build an extended waiting line for the tram once the NS is completed. Maybe have two queues that they can manage separately, one for the football fans one for the concert goers.

The concert was arranged months ago. The match was rescheduled due to us winning the FA Cup semi final.
Doesn't matter, what ended up happening was a stadium full of 55,000 people and another full with 23,000 people all converged on a tram system that can fit about 50 people on each one. Do City and the COOP Live not talk to eachother?

I don't know. I don't work for either. I'm not claiming that the two events should've been on the same night either. I was merely pointing out to the poster that the concert wasn't arranged on the same night as a scheduled home match like he suggested. The concert was arranged and then our game got moved to the same night. It's not difficult to understand.

I parked in GreenCarPark, came out and got onto Bradford Road and thought I was gonna make a quick getaway onto TuringWay. Got within fifty yards of the lights and then hordes of Springsteeners emerged and were clearly walking back to the City Centre. Never seen so many people walking down Bradford Road - both pavements and four or five people wide, spilling onto the road. I think most people decided that the tram was a 'no-go'!

It will never work properly until the tramlines extend to Bredbury/Stockport, and we have more people travelling the other way rather than back to Piccadilly and then a train to Bredbury/Stockport.

Too simple and won't happen unfortunately.
