Morgan Gibbs-White

If Forest beat Chelsea on Sunday and get champions a league then MGW becomes much harder and much more expensive to sign. Who is our third choice?

Hopefully someone like Angel Gomes who will leave Lille for free.

I am still hopeful he is not our second choice. No offence to him but for the likely money we will have to pay I don’t see the value in the deal.

If we’re letting KDB go there has to be someone better on the horizon.

we all know Pep, MGW would not be a starter in City midfield. All I can see him doing what Grealish did position wise and creativity wise. we can do much better at the winger role where MGW would mostly find himself after some time.

MGW has skills, even good stats for Forest in a defensive side, good engine and pressing, but thats because they dont dominate possession and that lets Forest attack in a way where they have sick amount of space to operate counters, runs, crosses etc.
this makes even Chris Wood look seriously good player LOL.

A top player however I do have a suspension that this transfer is also influenced by trying to snap Phil out of whatever he is in. We can’t afford a player like him to slip away into mediocrity.

What concerns me is, like Eze, he plays in a side that don't dominate possession. Adapting is therefore very hard. Grealish came from a Villa side that liked to counter and he struggled to adapt to playing teams sat back giving him no space to move into.

Between MGW and Eze I think MGW is the more adaptable but he's going to cost a fortune in comparison - especially if they qualify for the CL.

I get when people say he comes from a counter attacking team that doesn’t have the possession we have so will struggle. I don’t agree with that but get why it’s being said, he can play with possession of course he can he’s a professional footballer. Can he play Peps way well he deserves a chance.

One thing I’ll say is I wish we had players that were better on the counter. Sometimes certain players look lost and still try and get another pass in when they can just break.

A major attribute in players who are good on the counter is their ability to move the ball quickly and make quick decisions, something that's been sorely lacking this season in our team. You can definitely apply that skillset into a possession based side like ours.

Game like last night, he probably has a field day with the space we were given.
