Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

Are we ever going to hear anything about that pathetic VAR decision from the cuo final from an official standpoint? Are we really letting them get away with it?

This should be a line in the sand moment. Such a pathetic decision in English football's biggest game. They absolutely knew they had to send Henderson off but they made the conscious decision to not carry out their duties and let him stay on the pitch all because they didn't want to "ruin the occasion".

I know we like to stay quiet in these sort of situations but we really should come out and say something about this. The whole situation was so blatantly wrong.
Just like last seasons final, blatant foul on Erling Haaland and penalty mysteriously not awarded. That foul was as blatant as the one in the box against Southampton recently where apparently there " wasn't enough contact ". Some still insist there is no agenda.

Start a petition, it needs to be done.
Very disappointed with our owners if they don’t pursue it, it’s disgusting.

He's completely in on goal mate. Similar to the Saliba one v Bournemouth. Once you wrap your arm round a player and they're in on goal the distance shouldn't matter.

Thankfully they quickly returned the favour.
Was Saliba’s rescinded ? Or was that the other arse bandit?

He has been fast tacked through the system these last few years.

A lot of people see him as potentially a referee destined for the very top of the profession.
At 35 I think he might be too old to get nominated for a FIFA Badge?

What is shocking is that the BBC and FA are making available the Cup Final highlights with lies in the commentary, repeated 3 times, (by VAR, the BBC commentor and then Shearer), about the ball 'travelling away from goal' prior to the incident.

In truth, the ball was heading directly to goal before it was swatted away by Henderson outside the area. I sent a complaint directly to the BBC about this bias and repeatedly promoting blatant lies.

Personally I believe the club should complain as well? It's clear, obvious and totally unacceptable.

To people that didn't see the whole game and catch the widespread condemnation to not send off Henderson it totally distorts what happened.

From the highlights they are currently showing with lies being spoken it appears a reasonable action, which clearly it wasn't if only truthful statements are allowed!

I’ve no idea about age restrictions. I think he had a very bad injury a few years ago that held him back for a while.

Taylor was a similar age when he became a Premier League regular and is still getting some of FIFA’s top games though.

The bbc won’t care, they’ve got an agenda to keep.

But yeah, the club should kick off about it and put an official complaint in.
Part of the issue is the red tops have friends in the media who they can push to keep the story going.
We don’t seem to have that.

I’m not shocked the story has died down so quickly.
Compare it to the wrongly allowed Tottenham goal against Liverpool. For weeks and months. Klopp saying he wants the game replayed.
Liverpool fans all over the news asking why always us and saying they’re victims as everyone hates them.
Talkshite and sly sports constantly banging on about why it happened.
The media were actively keeping it alive.
Constant apologies from PIGMOL.

Ours will never get a mention again outside of this forum and Blue pubs.
Just like the fucking handball against Spurs.

We need friendly journalists. As I’ve said in here a few times it’s very unfortunate the Abu Dhabi group were blocked from buying the telegraph.

Have the PGMOL commented on the DOGSO from Saturday yet? I thought Howard Webb went on the telly and explained decisions or apologised for mistakes. Or is that only when Liverpool or Arsenals are involved?

Or when mistakes appear to be in City’s favour (whether or not they really are - Rhodri v Everton).

I’m just repeating what was said in the refereeing community, hence the ?. Perhaps he will be the next Mike Dean?

There are no age restrictions nowadays. Once over you had to retire from the top flight at 45. That was overturned years ago under employment law. As long as you pass the fitness and health tests you are good to go these days.

Give Howard a break. He went to Bilbao to cheer his team on yesterday. No doubt he’ll have tied it to a corporate freebie so he will be in Madrid today - probably having lunch with Tebas boasting about how he fucked us over at the weekend. He will be back for Sundays game at the swamp.

I think you have to demonstrate that you can turn a blind eye to certain decisions and show a capacity to reinterpret the handball, offside and DOGSO rules to the liking of the red cartel at a moments notice.

This is the programme and discussion around the Palace DOGSO. Why isn’t Howard Webb or someone else from the PGMOL there rather than an ex referee who has zero influence?

I accept mistakes can be made. And this was a really really bad mistake. But the very least I want to see is an apology.

I'll let them know, I like telling them when they are wrong!
