Florian Wirtz

Our midfield recruitment has been abysmal.

Phillips - 50 million
Nunes - 62 million
Gundo - on a free
Gonzalez - 50 million still young

The planning for the future of our midfield when Gundo is done and Kev has left is appalling.

Now we want to replace Kev with Gibbs bludy White. English midfielder that is a level below to what our midfield is normally.

Gibbs White is a good player. But to replace a legend and the best midfielder to ever play in the prem is ludicrous.

When Liverpool are signing world beaters we are signing average and mediocre.
Haaland and Nunez ring any bells?

Member when we did the domestic treble, we lost KDB before the season started for a least 5 months, if I right recall, we went with Gundo and Bernardo. So to answer your question we will have to go with a slightly different system. You don't always need a number 10.
How will we replace yaya? How will we replace David Silva? Aguero? You dont directly, you develop a new way of playing with different players who have different qualities and you play to their strengths.

Pep will figure it out. If we get Reijnders thats a big step to fortifying the midfield. Rodri comes back and if we can get Foden firing again we have legs, guile and goals. Foden on form is better than Wirtz.

No good way of framing the fact our greatest ever creative midfielder has just walked out the door and our big rival that just won the league at a canter look like they're about to sign the best young creative midfielder in the world, is there?
very bad optics indeed. it like when they lose Salah and Yamal will be on the market and they are in for him and us too and he comes here and they buy Brennan Johnson instead(=MGW in current situation)

Yes.....he will be the next top world class midfielder.

Never said Foden was crap ever - infact quite the opposite but what happens if the off field issues continue?

We have had a big problem creatively this season and we are missing out on the best possible out there that is available.....you want to be the best - you get the best - and our recruitment in recent transfer windows has been poor

These are all the transfers since Pep joined city:View attachment 157526View attachment 157527View attachment 157528View attachment 157529View attachment 157530

Rodri - obviously yes
Sterling - yes
NIco Gonzales? - ????????????????
Grealih - No

That doesnt looka great record....KDB was already here as were some of our other top performers like Ferna and David Silva - Yes Gundo, Bernardo, Rodri being the stand out yes's but there have been some huge failings in there as well as far as trasnfers coming in.

Foden has been a critical and he came from our acadamy

For a manager who once said he would lay with a team full of midfielders that record on buying midfielders aint great

We have missed out on Rice, Bellingham and now Wirtz - two of those have gone on to significantly strengthen direct rivals
You said he was world class. Becoming world class are two different things. He's 100% not world class at the moment, but demanding a deal that would cost the club he goes to £300m They could take that chance, but there's no guarantees

Since we're apparently so shit and most of the players bought have been shit, it's incredible that we've won anything at all, let alone 4 titles in a row (never been done before), a treble and 100 points (never been done before).
Not worth bothering mate. Most are just kids that won't get their dream list of signings and so take it out on the club.

Wirtz may have been great for us or may have bombed. He might be great for the dippers/bayern or not. None of that has any relevance to us as we don't know how he would have done in the here and now at City.

It doesn't matter which club but any top club is only replacing a very good player with a very good player. No one player is making that much difference.

He looks a very good player but is he really going to make the dippers/bayern that much better? Let's see. We need to focus on signings that improve the group, not just individuals.

You cant really replace KdB.

Even Wirtz and the other high volume creators never got close to prime KdB.

The best this season is Cherki, and compared to KdBs best seasons, he is only around 60% as good.

But there was a time when KdBs risky passes was seen as too risky, we played Gundogan and Bernie as dual goal scoring 8s, City still played very well, relying more on the wingers and fullbacks to create.

But we still went back to KdB because of how good he is.

Thats why im thinking we go back to that, if there is no 10 of that level that exista (or doesnt want to come), but the likes of Reijnders or MGW who can play as goal scoring 8s do, then lets lean into that.

It requires more from the wingers, but I thino we have just seen the start of Marmoush , Savio and Bobb, they can only do better imo.

Doku will need to refine some things, but its been 2 years.

And Foden, in one of his worst years, is still 2nd for us in goals scored. He has had clear issues, I think he will recover well and bounce back to last seasons form.

Poor Gibbs-White, lad doesn't stand a chance as Bluemoon has already decided that not only is he not good enough, but that he represents everything wrong with the club.

Bunch of hysterical children.
To be honest it's only a few on here who are trying to. Usually those who see him blocking the way of the dream signing. A bit childish but understandable on the whole.

Most of the rest probably have a greater idea that it's a team game.

Wirtz, Kerkez and Frimpong is the best transfer window that any PL title winner has ever done. That’s what you call investing when you’re on top, not resting on your laurels. We decided to completely stand still and eroded the squad over time. They have every chance of 3 or 4 in a row themselves from this one window alone.
It is not even close to this
