Almost as funny as the mental gymnastics that people are doing to persuade themselves to persuade themselves that wirtz is the best player ever to lace boots and everyone should just give in now when the dippers sign him
I've watched him play about 5 times, mainly for Germany granted and every time he's been either anonymous or shite. Now he's obviously much better than I have seen from him as some good judges rate him highly but I'm finding it hard to feel too downhearted about missing out. I can't believe we aren't all over Cherki though, he's the absolute bargain of the century at his release clause.

I genuinely think it’s the clubs brief to the press that’s causing this about us failing to get him and not that he’s chose Liverpool, club saying he’s too expensive makes it seem that we’ve pulled out for money reasons and not that he’s chosen Liverpool.

I wouldn't say its dross, however if a player wants to get recognized for their individual brilliance, then our current style of play (emphasis on current) would easily discourage them. If Bernie was at any other club that allowed him express himself, he would have at least been a Balon Dór nominee but the overly disciplined and mechanical way we play leaves very little room for individual brilliance. It's a winning formula alright but it can sometimes seem lifeless.Can’t blame him fof that as our style is absolute dross .

He may improve the dippers or not. No guarantee that he would have improved us. He looks very good at Leverkusen but he didn't have to try and create against 11-man defences there, like he would with us.Course he was mate .
