The Squad planning thread

Or…. People at the top of the tree should be held accountable like everyone in high end business?
So one off season and they need to be held accountable?

Of course Pep and Txiki knew our balon dor winner would do his ACL, Phil would drop off the face off the planet after a POTY season, Haaland to pick up niggles and drop off and you can go on and on.

Bringing in goal scoring midfielders in Reijnders and MGW should help. I think this will cost around 130m.

2 Fullbacks obviously. I think this will be around 100m.

And atleast 1 goalie for Ederson, maybe a 2nd one. Assuming 1, thats probably like 50m.

So thats around 280m. Obviously we will make some money in sales.

Im pretty happy with those, and Ive also been thinking how good O Reilly has been and thinking is there another academy player who is clearly physically ready to slot in?

You are entitled to your opinion mate as are the rest of us but the losing out on Wirtz is seemingly unprofessional from all concerned and that should come with consequences like every major organization would do. Everyone has an appraisal after a year and between the disconnect between the fans and club this year, added to the failure to improve our issues this summer then it’s a problem. Wirtz was THE signing to replace De Bruyne and you have to get it done and not be caught out!

Incredible

Think they might just wait till the window opens before having a meltdown over one player like a 5 year old

You should see people who have more money than god and when they are mocked react! Pointless discussion though as the happy clappers know how things work apparently.

Unprofessional because he doesn't want to sign for us. Truly mental.

Why cant people accept that he just prefers them over us. Why does City have had to do something wrong for him to do that.

I couldn't care less about being the biggest (whatever that really means).
By pretty much every metric we are 1 or 2 in world football, their investment has been more than repaid and value for money.

But losing Wirtz to the dippers means Sheikh is going to flip the table and shut the club down because it's so embarrassing.

They had ample warning of what losing Rodri would have meant. He went down holding his knee in the CWC and every City breathed a sigh of relief when he got back up, we also lost every game he missed last season. Yet they did nothing. Other than bringing a random winger from Girona. Continued with an ever increasingly injured KDB, Walker who at that point was entering his 3rd year of decline. Bernie, Gundo and Kovacic all in there 30s. Majorly injury prone defenders and just one striker. It was shambolic to say the least.

So we should just have world class midfielders sat about incase anything happens to Rodri. Righto, that works.

"random winger" yet putting up better numbers than the likes of Rodrygo who some on this forum are wanking themselves silly over. Of course, Pep knew he wouldn't settle and struggle in his first year.

Just insane to be having a pop at the team of people who built the most dominant squad this country has ever seen just because of one bad year where everything that could have gone wrong, did.

Lets look elsewhere, the world class team over at the dippers won everything...oh wait, just rumbled to a prem title with one of the lowest points totals in the last decade. Knocked out of the CL, lost in the FA cup to a relegation championship team and lost in the carabao to Newcastle. Then their incredible transfer team lost one of the best attacking players in the world for fuck all and mortgaged the farm to two players nearing the mid 30s that could drop off a cliff at any moment.

Not asking for world class on the bench, just a capable back up. Won’t necessarily be on the bench anyway they could play together. There’s no way you’re telling me the last 2 transfer windows haven’t been shambolic ffs. We also happened to have the greatest manager the world has ever seen, that has helped. The decisions made have been poor, regardless of what we did 3 years ago. Players signed on high fees, players we’ve let go and the players we have deemed to expensive. We made 100+million last summer and spent less than Birmingham…there’s no debate to be had, it was shambolic
